Was GSM available back then? Don't think so.
Are you looking for some OEM BMW car phone info? Stuff looks cool but it's useless. Best you could do is turn the handset into a BT mic and speaker, maybe get the keypad working as a dialer

Maybe you can post some pics of what you have? I will post some pictures of my OEM BMW phone. I don't have it installed because the radio technology needed (TDMA I think) is not supported by the network anymore :-). I do have an AT&T account here in the US, but the old 2G network is being turned off.
