    motor information

I was wondering what would be the best engine to rebuild for a turbo.. or just rebuild for power.. I hear a lot about "stroker kits" what exactly is that? I need to start on my E30 project.. I want chassis bending power :D

changing the stroke (distance that piston travels up and down the cylinder) is a good way to increase displacement and net alot of extra torque.

check out ireland engineering, they have several stroker kits. Chances are high that you will need to have an engine builder put it together though...

several members here have low compression turbo engines. The M20 engine works just fine. If you want power without a turbo, swap in an S50 motor.

In order to get much more than 'keep up with 325i' power you'll need to do a swap or a turbo on your 4cyl. 'Chassis bending power' will probably need an S50 to start with. The M42 is displacement limited when going for the big power which is too bad because it's just about as efficient as an S14.
