I loved that. GM and Chrysler: "please, help us"
      Ford: "Nah, we're all set"

That said, GM is in my blood, but that Focus RS would be on my radar if I was ever in the market for a new car.

They did take out piles of loans prior to that, and were rebounding from a near bankruptcy 2 year before to big to fail happened..... All that said the European unit did get a lot of help from the gemany though

If they were going to make this in something other than a hatch I would be all over this and I am staunchly not a ford guy... Nor a hatch guy but it is interesting...
Oh shit. Maybe they had a change in management and someone is actually investing of the future of Ford.

They did. Alan Mulally was hired in shortly before the crisis. He took one look around and literally mortgaged EVERYTHING. Everyone thought he was insane.

Then shit happened and Ford sailed through intact.

The STs I've been in were nice. Most of the parts felt solid, dash was a nicer pliable plastic/vinyl combo. Door handles were light though. And from the pictures I've seen of the RS it looks like even better materials were used.

I will buy an ST or RS withing the next year or so. Get some Mountune parts on it and it will be an excellent daily.

But yes, if the RS is here and stays AWD and sells for under $35k, it's almost certain that at least one person in my family will buy one.

Has to be in STI price range. I don't think it will be under 35k. The Sts I've been prices are already close to 30. It's their stupid packages, I can't get HID unless I get the navigation. Stupid.

The local Ford dealer just told me tonight that they expect not to sell them for less than $2k over list. Depending on what is equipped on the couple a dealer gets on the lot, you're talking a $40k focus... a badass car and miles away from a decade ago when Ford refused to bring the updated body that Europe got because compacts weren't worth it in America... but that's a lot for a focus.

AWD, turbo, 300+ horsepower for 40k? Isn't that twice the price of a ST?

Can be done for much less, with a much nicer car......

All jokes aside, I do like these newer Focuses, very cool cars.

At the end of the day though I feel the same way as I do with the STI and EVO cars. It's a lot of money for a fast Lancer, Impreza, or Focus.

Googled 2016 focus RS msrp and it $35,730. Perhaps when the hype dies down and you can haggle a little bit. It's not a $40,000 focus anymore.

                          That's base MSRP...

                          $695 for blue
                          $895 power moonroof
                          $1,990 premium wheels
                          $2,785 rs2 pack (nav & heated bits)

Maybe if hype declines and the dealer has a stripper model available... but I'd say a fair amount of these are gonna be out the door $40k to start out...

Impressed they are using awd , but I wish they would of used the 5 cyl. from the RS500.

Good points. Similar pricing options with subies and mitsus would get you around the same price though no? I wish I had the money, I'd take this car in a heartbeat.

I just can't get into the hype. This has already been played out with the evo and sti. It also seems too much like a tuner car for me to drive around everyday. You can get the mustang gt now for like 27k and 30k with the performance package.

Pretty cool car, just not for me.
