This. I've heard lately don't buy Optimas. They aren't built by the same manufacturer anymore, and I've heard from a few friends in various shops that they get returned all the time now for problems. Just word of mouth, but everyone I talk to swears by Interstate.

E30 batteries seem to have odd post configuration compared to everything else I have owned. So they might not be as common as a battery for say a Accord or Ford escort. Hell when I had my e30 and lived in a more populated area and state the only place tha had a battery in stock was Vato-Zone, and that was 95 bucks + tax in 2005. Even pulling it storing charged in the warm basement all winter it still only lasted a 16 months. I just ordered and interstate after that, and its the only battery I put in anything I own unless its a emergency

Why is it so difficult to shop for batteries on line?

This http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/loca...-batteries.htm was helpful once I found this thread and identified Group 48. Then it occurred to me that maybe a late model convertible might be a different group than you're discussing. Will the Group 48 work for a 1992 e30 convertible? Short of going to the store, is there a way to order a battery from CostCo?

the reason they are so expensive is because they are "sealed" and use a vent tube to vent outside the car since most are in the trunk..
i have a vert so mines in the front and i used a $50 napa battery.. suckers haha

you have a vert so you dont need anything special, i usually go to napa and see what they have thats the same width so the mount still works and go from there.. i got one of there "universal" ones last year and ive never had an issue
