FS: Clean 1986 325e, no rust, unmolested

    SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD

I have been daily driving this car for the last 3 years and it has been really reliable for me. It is an honest car that has managed to remain unmolested over the years. This car could be a great canvas for someone or just drive it as is. I always wanted to throw some euro bumpers on it, springs and weaves and call it a day. I am graduating soon and got a newer car to commute in.

Throughout the time I have owned it I have only replaced parts and done routine maintenance. No upgrades and no crappy parts. Just good stuff over the last 3 years/20k miles. The car has had a minor fender bender at some point on the front left fender. It was repaired and then blended into the existing factory paint then cleared over (see pictures). This is the only body work done to the car. The rest is original and the paint presents well, around a 7/10. Electronics are overall great. It has been taken care of its whole life and it shows. Definitely one of the nicer E30s on the market. Interior is in amazing condition and presents very well. Drives great. Clutch grabs fine and transmission shifts smooth. No weird shakes or shimmies. I have gotten up to 27mpg on the highway. Motor is showing its age at times but has a lot of life left in it. No smoking or anything. Odometer shows ~115k but this is not correct. I have driven to Kentucky and back no problem, a 1400 mile trip. Overall a really nice car that could use some love here and there.

What I have done since I have owned it:
    - Water pump + timing belt at 98k
    - All new belts
    - Valve adjustment
    - Valve cover gasket
    - New rocker shaft plugs
    - Bosch copper spark plugs
    - Refurbished AFM from Bavrest
    - Replaced odometer gears
    - Replaced various vacuum hoses
    - New air filter
    - New control arms
    - New control arm bushings
    - New tie rods and fresh alignment
    - New tie rod boots
    - New strut mounts
    - New KYB shocks
    - New trailing arm bushings
    - New subframe bushings
    - New front sway bar end links
    - New rear sway bar end links
    - New rear axles
    - New wheel bearings
    - New brake pads and fresh fluid
    - New rear rotors
    - New condenser
    - Repainted grilles, door handles, and mirrors with SEM trim paint
    - Ellipsoid headlights
    - New exhaust hangers
    - New taillight gaskets
    - Repainted new front valence (original was smashed up)
    - New front roundel
    - New guibo
    - New clutch slave cylinder
    - New crank position sensor
    - Replaced wiper motor
    - Floor mats
    - Front license plate filler
    - E34 e-brake handle
    - New tires (~3000 miles on them)

    The good:
    - Unmolested
    - Very clean
    - No rust
    - Southern car its whole life so no salt
    - Very reliable
    - Really nice interior
    - Excellent headliner
    - Cold A/C (keeps me cool in 95+ degree heat)
    - Mtech 1 steering wheel
    - Lots of new parts

    The bad:
    - Has some leaks but nothing that needs immediate attention. I check fluids when I change oil and they rarely need topping off.
    - Sometimes it runs rough when its cold but it always smooths out once it warms up. I think it is either ignition or vacuum related but haven't diagnosed it.
    - Normal dents and dings over the years as well as minor dash cracks
    - Other nit picky stuff here and there. It is a 30 year old unrestored car so this is expected

    Asking $4,250obo

I have around 6k invested over the years. Fly in and drive it to California tomorrow

pretty sure he still has it. I have a 42k mile 318i coupe and an 87 Euro sedan in Atlanta also.

Your requirements are not unreasonable, but they are pretty hard to meet with a car that is 20+ years old. Good original paint is a pipe dream, combine that with everything else you want (working a/c, nice seats, crack free dash, perfect mechanical condition) and you're realistically in the $8k+ range. Especially on this site...

I respectfully disagree. Maybe a plastic bumper car with all the good options, but early model ETAs are far less desirable and fetch a much lower price. The first one posted is a great car for $4,500 obo that checks almost all the boxes, however unfortunately for me he has decided to keep it. The "Things I Like" list is not a list of requirements, just bonuses.

Runs great, except for the cloud of blue smoke in the picture... pass.

It's cold here in the Northeast... was 34 degrees last night so most likely steam in warm up.

True, forget that all you east coast suckers are freezing out already! :)

However I've learned that anybody that doesn't include a picture of the interior has something to hide. You can tell a lot about how a car is cared for simply in how detailed an ad is... if they can't take the time to articulate a well written ad or take the time to snap 5-6 good pictures, it's a good chance they didn't keep up on maintenance. Just my 2 cents.
