Idle feels a little bit better, and it seems to have a slight boost in MPGs, so I can't complain.

Straight to work! I like it. If be terrified of CELs on the newer BMWs, but glad these are quick easy fixes!

That engine bay though.. Makes my heart hurt :(
How can a car be neglected so badly.. My e30 bay has never even looked that bad..

Oh it's bad. The check engine light came back on, same code and it even came with his friend P1188 for a lean mixture. Ordered CCV hose, it's like $10 but worth a shot. If that doesn't fix it, I'm most likely looking at a $150 MAF

Decided to address some cosmetic issues and the vents were stuck in a certain spot. Someone probably kicked it by accident.

This was bothering me everytime I went into reverse.

                      Ouch.

Flattened with the back of a screwdriver :)

CEL is still on. No surprises there.

Smoked the intake system at school. No pictures but it was leaking near cylinder 4.

Thought it was one of those Valve Cover Gasket grommets.

                      There she is...

And I come to find, the valve cover is CRACKED!!!:hitler::rippedoff::crazy::down::letitout:

So here's where I sit. I hope that this is the cause of the CEL on. Anybody have any input?

Alright so I'm going to take a shot that this cracked valve cover is the reason for my CEL, Fuel Bank Faults, and Random Misfires.

                          Let's do it!

                          Coils Out!

Coil rail out of the way.

                          C'mon Bastard!

                          There we go...

                          M52TUB28- Double VANOS

Cams are in perfect condition surprisingly.

                          My minions!

                          DO NOT OPERATE!

Till tomorrow... Gasket and new valve cover will go in!

                            Ok.

                            Replaced a borderline stripping nut.

The soldiers about to go into battle against 5QTS. of oil :)

                            Newer and Unbroken valve cover

Cleaned up the head and wiped down the oily spots. Also applied RTV sealant.

                            Gasket on.

Valve cover back on, the end is near!

Everything tightened down, coils in too!

Dusty cover back on, don't worry it will get cleaned one day...

                            Key On.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OFF!!!! WOOO HOOOOOOOO :D:p8):-D;D:pimp::drink::drink::drink::drink::rofl: :nice: :giggle::mrgreen:

Drove it for a hard 10 miles. And the CEL hasn't come back! :)

Nice score. I love E39's I've owned/own a few. My father has 2 e39 M5's. great cars, along side the E30 of course. E39 was the last good 5 series in my opinion.
