Its actually very straightforward. Let me know if you need any help with the wiring for the clutch switch.

Was there any transmission wiring you had to purchase?

Reverse lights, 2 wires, black/brown to ground and the other to pin 4 on the back of the cluster

I needed to do something about the non-existent muffler.

            I got (2) 5' 2.5" Exhaust pipes

The little harbor freight bender that could.

Small bends first, all by eyeball.

Needs a chrome tip or something. Its too small

All done! 100% eyeballed up. I like the sound and weight reduction :)

All packed up to come home from college. I love my wagon.

That is a 15 foot roll of suede, hmmmm ideas...

              :)

              SUEDE!!!

The interior started to change color in the white car and the blue car! Jeez another swap!!

It started to rain and I had to take the glass out.

              Old nasty ass grey headliner

I still haven't completely finished the interior, but I will soon and I promise I will get pics. The suspension hasn't settled in yet but I'll get photos to that too.

Maybe that was the loud front end noise...

After dailying this car for over a year now, I've decided it needs a clutch. Now, I could put $500 down for a new clutch and keep the 5 speed. But that's not my style. Time for a 6 speed!

                  Getrag GS6-37BZ out of a 2006 330i Sedan.

                  Enjoy :)

                  Shift shaft seal

FACK I HIT THE BEARING. It should be ok though

I tried a light layer of dirko, we will see if this works

                  New shifter stuff

Got my front plate bracket fabbed up

Oh yea, and I sourced out front sport seats for $325 :) :) :)

                  Much better

Suspension is settling in ok I guess

                  Gave it a nice wash

Back to 6 speed stuff. Time to make the jig for the 6 speed crossmember

Oh yea and I got the driveshaft I needed too :)

                  Back to this stuff

Hehehehehe this part cracks me up the most

                  Made a mess!

Got my shifter carrier and stuff

Putting in a new CSB and centering sleeve

We will see what the welder says I'm praying he doesn't think I'm crazy. I don't have a TIG welder so we will see what he says.

Quality work, and a lot of it! I applaud your efforts on this car. Reading this thread felt like watching an episode of wheeler dealers.

Thats looking really good! The only thing I would say since you were doing the swap anyway you should have sourced a 540i parts car:) I love my M62, love the E39 great work and looking forward to watching this thread, coming from a former NJ guy!

                          Back on.
So I wanted to upgrade the front speakers, Kicker 5.25" Coaxial, its a nice improvement for the money.

I also swapped GM3's because mine was funky with the mirror tilt.

                          Hey my old interior

                          MMMMMMMM

And its time for headlight adjusters!!

Old 5 Speed. If someone wants it for $100, PM me!

                          Hey its me!

Swapped diffs to 3.07, we'll see....

                          All new, all new

                          Diggin the gold calipers

                          Bolting up the new trans.

                          It bolted in nicely :)

My crossmember idea ended up not working. hmmm

                          Close but no cigar.

                          So...
My driveshaft idea didn't work either, oh well. I had to get one kinda custom made, E60 530i/6 Manual Front half mated to a E39 530i/5 Manual Rear half. The shop had to swap knuckles and I got it back and it was PERFECT!

The crossmember- I didn't want to fool around, I got some steel and just made a complete new one. I didn't get a photo of it (I promise I will one day!) but the car is back on the road! I think I'm going to leave it alone for a while and just enjoy it.

Just a little update. This was the custom crossmember that had to be made, I came home for the weekend and decided to give it a nice heavy paint job.

                            Final Fitment.
