Not bad, but since I am a n00b when it comes to engine rebuilds I am going to stick with a simple and cheap m10 for my first try ;)

ok since this is an m10 thread i ll jump in.. i just swapped an m10 out of a 85 4 dr auto into my 2dr 5sp 84..the problem is everythings ready to go except for the vacuum hoses and fuel lines..grounds..etc.. the motor that was in there had one type of injection..or whatever..not really sure what the difference between the two is but the motor that was in my 318 had a gold fuel rail with two outlets for hoses....the one that came on the motor is a black fuel rail with only one outlet..so i figured the easiest thing to do would be to switch em.. and put the gold one and the injectors onto the motor with the black one..seeing as how the harness in my car was already for the gold fuel rail..(sorry about vagueness i know theres two types i just don t know which is which) so now i have a mess of lines that i don t know what to do with and i can t find vacuum hose diagrams anywhere..not in a haynes..or a chilton/.. they got the 2.0 liter 4 cyl but not the 1.8..if anybody could help out or point me in the right direction that would be great this car has taken forever and now i m almost there and i feel dumb to be stopped by such a stupid complication... any help is great..thanks

Picked up a clean 318i head today, off to an engine shop to make sure it's straight etc before doing anything else.

the third hole on the fuel rail that you are talking about goes to the cold start injector (if that helps at all)

Ummm... on which modell or year?

On all 318i l-jets I've seen cold start valve has t juntion on fuel hose, not on fuel rail.

My $30 head, how does it's condition look to the experts ? I am starting to take it apart so I can have it blasted (since it's aluminum it shouldn't be chemically washed right?)

looks like any other m10 head...i might be able to sell you some custom spring hardware to put schrick valve springs and titanium retainers on it...haha

What are the light spot between intake ports?

                            Which year?

Looks like it might be early k-jetronic head with injector holes(yes early k-jet ones had injectors in head)plugged.

the light spots are for the krufleger or w/e injection (cis i think), or you could put nitrous injectors in there

                                W/e :)

Kugelfischer, a pump fed mechanical cis

                                or

Bosch k-jetronic airflow controlled mechanical cis.

Both have injector holes in head(ok not all k-jets).

If I see right, head says 1,8 so it must be k-jet, since Kugelfischer was never available to 1,8l m10.

Jean, chances are that you have cc as mirror image to your piston top, since that seems to be vintage head.
