MS2 PCB3.0 Connection Issue. Passes CPU Loop test

Having trouble getting my computer to sense my MS2 that was built into a Bosch Motronic 55 pin case. I am using a usb-db9 cable, baud rate at 115200, buffers turned all the way down. It passes the cpu loop test in the megamanual, to which the manual says there is no firmware. But when I try to load the 3.3.1 firmware it says no valid ecu's found. This is with tunerstudio not running. It says common problems are: something is hogging the serial port, but tunerstudio is not running; usb-serial cable is on high com port number, but I assigned it to com1 in device manager; ecu is not getting power, but it would not pass loop test without power; serial cable not connected properly, again wouldn't pass loop test; software driver problems, again, would not pass cpu loop test.
Tunerstudio also fails to 'find ecu' in create new project. I'm confused at what the next step is to diagnosing the connection. Obviously the port is working correctly and the megasquirt is getting power for the cpu loop to work, but I did not build it and so I cannot confirm the build is good. My computer is also running windows 8 64 bit but the only windows loader in firmware folder is ms2loader_32bit, is this the right file to run to load firmware? Ill get some pics up soon, and I have tried with and without a bootjumper in the 'boot' pins on the board, Thanks for the help.

What firmware are you loading? That doesnt sound like an ms2extra firmware, which is what you will want. You also must use the msextra firmware loader that comes with it, not anything else like the standard b&g loader.

I downloaded the zip folder here:

Then ran ms2loader_win32 once I unzipped the files.
      Thanks for the quick reply

It might be your USB->DB9 adapter too. If you haven't already I would pick up this cable from DIY since it's known to work well (I'm using it, never had problems).

The second part is testing the MS build since you aren't sure if it's good or not. Do you have a stim or a buddy you can borrow one from? I would say first try swapping out the USB adapter since it's the lowest hanging fruit. If that doesn't work you need to verify the MS build is good.

So it turns out I was sold a ms1 instead of an ms2. I guess the ms2 bootloader doesn't like ms1, but I flashed the ms1extra (029y4a) firmware and everything now connects fine.
