SUpercharger on S52- can I vent BOV to atmosphere?

    Hello all,
Working on installing a C38 AA Supercharger into my E30. Wondering whether I can vent the BOV to atmosphere? The intake tubing has a "Y" in it to connect a tube from the BOV but it comes in after the MAF so it's not as if the MAF will include that extra air in its calculations. Not sure this makes sense...

I would definitely not if you are using a maf.

I'm using a MAF but it will be ahead of the spot where the air from the BOV comes in. The order is air filter-->4" tube-->MAF-->"y" pipe-->180 curve to supercharger-->supercharger-->tube to intake (w/BOV on it)--throttle body

The air passes through the MAF first, and is "metered".
Then the BOV releases y grams of air.

The MAF reports X grams of air have entered the engine.
In reality, X-y grams of air have entered the engine.
The DME adds enough fuel for X grams of air.
Because there are actually X-y grams of air in the engine, the result is a rich spike every time the blow off valve operates.

Thanks-- it is looped back into the system post MAF. Next question: I will be getting it on the dyno soon (and will know for certain) but right now it runs great but I hear detonation. I am running the same setup as the previous owner (who didn't have detonation) with the exception of the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Both of us have the OBD1swap with the OBD1 intake, but mine is from a vanos M50 car, his is from an S50 car. Are the FPRs the same? And if not, could I be running out of fuel pressure and causing detonation?

FPRs are the same. I'll post dyno results this weekend.

Id consider lowering the timing across the map to make sure you get rid of the detonation, and go from there with fine tuning. You are running 91+ octane ?

Yes I run 92 and put in a bottle of octane boost. On the dyno the AF was exactly perfect and boost was right where it was supposed to be (4-7lbs) but still lots of detonation. I only did one pull because it sounded bad. 295 at the wheels. So I guess I need to get a new chip. Unless there's a different way to back off the timing? (yes I'm a noob)

What is your perfect AFR? I'm under the impression that under boost (depending on how much), it should be in the high 11s to low 13s.

I think the octane boost won't do much for you.
