Can anyone recommend a good shop in the LA area that does engine swaps? I've heard of Castro's and JMP and since they're a bigger shop, I'm assuming their rates would be a bit higher than a smaller shop. This summer, after my spring semester is over, I'm planning on swapping an S50 into my car. Since I don't have space at home or the know-how to do it, I want to give it to a shop. I've already asked 2 shops that I know of and I was quoted about 6-7k for the swap, which is fair, but I want to ask around a little more. I'm not looking for a full rebuild on the engine before having it put in. I just want the shop to buy the engine and put it in. So if anyone knows of any good shops, please let me know. Thanks!

You won't get shop warranty anywhere else, pay one of the 2 shops that are notorious for such swaps and move on.
Good luck finding something else close, the nearest shops are going to be in Glendora or maybe O.C but, you aren't going to be close to L.A. by any means.

I guess I'll go and ask them for some price quotes. Thanks!

Hey people , wow the chat was completely dead today. Today i finished up a bit of e30 work. Anyone using original exhaust manifolds with VR gaskets i found a trick:

Dremel smooth cutting bit to fit the gasket around the studs . Attach it to your drill and go at the holes !
                  - Goodnite lol.

I piled a number of things into my Matco shopping cart. Hopefully my student discount is still effective, it's been like 2 years since I've used it. Love my Matco ratchet!
