Been playing around lately on my free time Fridays . One side project was to get a stock air box installed. I had trimmed it here and there to get it to fit, but I never liked the way it was coming along. Here's where I got the other day:

Small gap to make it draw air from outside. Pretty sure there's an OEM piece that will fill this gap.

Still not feeling it and that's where a $950 E36 M3 came into the picture with a trunk full of junk.

Talked to Mr. Balleristic himself. Nick sent me some pics of some of the crap that was back there.

I figured it would work better, made him a cheap offer which he took. I'll do my best to get that sucker breathing fresh 100+mph air when I'm flying around a track. It will need a new filter and some silicone hoses and maybe I can convince Charlie (Sh3park!ng) to make me a nice panel to help out but I haven't even asked him yet lol

There's also some other stuff going on but I'll post that when it gets a little further along

      Til then...

It's pretty easy to cut a 3.5" hole where the abs would be run a filter through it.

If I would've bought your setup 2 years ago I wouldn't be in this situation right now

Only problem is that my biggest hole saw is 3", but we'll see what I can do

It's still sitting in my garage lol. I upgraded to a 3.5" intake all the way through to the MAF vs the previous 3"

                When weight reduction gets serious....

Or just finally get a chance to have a good friend who I trust to deal with the major eye sore of the car...

                The rear valence

Won't show you the worst part though, for the children's sake, this could end up good or it will simply be some more weight reduction with a removal of the late model valence. Either way it's going to look a lot better after this is over

Here's what I'm left with before dropping it off for 2 weeks with my friend. I get it back right before I head to Buttonwillow

                    Lol @Sam

Drove the car about 200 miles to Fresno yesterday. My buddy who painted the bumpers and valence last year is going to fix the rear valence for me and probably a few other touch ups. He's an awesome body man and said he would help with a few other things he saw ( fender and door alignment stuff) . I'll be picking it up right before I head to Buttonwillow for another track day.

                    Pretty excited!

In my boredom I took a few pics on the drive. Selfie! Lol

And typical Friday 405 traffic heading north. E30 cruises along easily, even in the current race mode

                        Lol no kidding!

That gauge has been hit or miss for a while now. I have a spare cluster I thought about grabbing that gauge from but haven't done so yet.

Luckily, the Spal fan runs independent of whatever that gauge says. It's on it's own relay and everything so whenever the the thermocouple that's in the M42 radiator is over a certain temp it kicks on, even after I shut down the car.

The cooling system will get upgraded eventually just for track reliability. It hasn't been a problem but this is one thing I want to go overkill on.
