    325ix/325i LCA geometry

Does anyone know if the outer ball joint on the ix lower control arms is in the same place as the "other" lower control arms? Obviously the inner ball joint is in a different location due to the forward mounted subframe.

I cant find any side by side pictures or any measurements online.

    Thanks!

    I don't think it is, but I don't have any proof.. :p

Same boat here. I assume they are different but I am curious if the outer point is the same.

If i remember right, when they was selling to me wrong lower control arms.
That outer ball joint is more outer, then normal. I mean ix has little wider rail gauge, if compare to rwd.

That makes sense. I was thinking the additional offset was related to the different hubs, but the whole assembly might be moved outward as well.

The whole geometry is way different. The RWD outer ball joints are much closer to the height of the wheel axis, for example.

They are different. IX LCA's have a little angle where the ball joint goes.

In the images you can notice the little diference

If anyone happens to have a trashed ix LCA thats taking up space I would pay for shipping to do a side by side compare. I looked on ebay and the ones on there are listed for a mint so maybe they are all worth a lot.

The nerd in me wants to know the differences between all E30s and for some reason this question dawned on me and I can't find a specific answer.

Thanks for the similar pictures notanawdix80 that does help show the outer ball joint might be angled a little differently. The other LCAs seem to have an angle to them as well: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/31121127725/

I'm sorry, the pics i found are crap.

The angle on the IX lca is bigger and downwards. The normal E30 lca has less angle and it is upwards.

I would love to have better pics of my lcas, i've recently rebuilt my ball joints because the car was behaving like shit. Can't wait to order new ones

I think i have 2 (or 3) of one side, i keep them for rebuilding so i dont really need that many of them.

I might have to borrow one to compare to mine and solve this once and for all :)

I've got a few spares I'd be willing to let you compare. I'd want it back though! 😁

Chris is local to me so that option is probably easiest. Ive just been busy with family summer stuff so I havent been able to do much car stuff.

Stop by whenever you have a chance. My wife won't be upset if I get rid of some of the car junk in the garage. :p

(and I don't need 3 right side control arms, lol)
