Feeler:1991 325is w/ bad s50

Turns out that the head on my S50 was cracked when I installed it. Leaked coolant into 3&4..two cracks. I had the head sent off to Hoffman for repairs. They repaired the two cracks and reassembled/cleaned the head. 12K/1yr. warranty on repairs. The head looked as good as new and has functioned without issue for over a year. This cost me $600 total and yours may be less depending on the extent of repairs.

Did he actually get to drive the car . Did he put the engine together himself or did he buy the s50 from somebody? Also the valve cover looks like it is from a regular m50 because the s50 valve cover is a grayish color.

He drove the car for a very short time and the valce cover is not on the engine so how do you know what it looks like? he bought the engine complete

Both valve covers are identicle, M50 and S50. M50's are just typically more worn because they have a lot more age. S52/M52 was when they switched over to the black plastic valve cover.

N/m man the valve cover looks alright ,on my other computer the monitors coloring made it look gold colored. The gold tinted one are found on m50's. S50 valve cover is the same but tinted more of a gray.
