Can a sedan rear window motor be replaced without replacing regulator?

From what I can tell it can't. Is this true?

I have a 1991 sedan. I can't believe how impossible this is to figure out. I don't get it.

Best part is the Bentley doesn't have ANYTHING on this. They have the older style rear regulators in their literature, and nothing on the new. Nothing. Ugh. I ended up having to snip the cable for the regulator just to get the damn thing out- window was stuck UP, and I could not get at the 2nd of the two bolts clipping the regulator to the actual glass. There was no way. Frustrated doesn't even begin to describe my feelings right now. Times like this make me think about getting something newer. Ugh.

Obviously too late for this, but it was too stuck to manually crank the window motor?
