    Normal temp gauge reading ?

My car is an 86 325es. Even driving for a bit of time and getting on it to, this is all the higher my temp gauge has read so far. Just wanted to know if this is normal.

seems pretty low. but temperature gauges are not always very accurate. verify your temperature with an infrared thermometer, then go from there

Its a bit low, you might have the lower value thermostat installed.

Thats low enough to make me think your tstat is either stuck open or not there at all....assuming as mentioned that your gauge is working

Thank you for your input. I didn't want to start checking it out if it was normal. It may be the gauge because it will sit on dead cold then bounce right up to the top of the blue mark.

Mine moves around, im sure I read somewhere on here that the sensors are notorious for ruining everything. Replacing this weekend.

This may sound silly, but the cluster connector behind the temp gauge can become loose with age, and just needs to be cleaned and tightened up. The picture you posted looked like mine on the ride home from work today... I have the exact same issue as you with my own '86 ES. I can reach the connector through the radio bay, and if you "jiggle" the connector around, you'll see the needle move. Same goes for the fuel gauge with its connector on the other side. You probably need to replace your SI board batteries as well.

Could be wiring. My temp gauge sits all the way on cold then jumps up to the top of the blue then slowly rises. My gas gauge moves up and down slowly between 1/4 and 1/2 tank when the gas gets down that low. It also hangs on 1/4 tank for longer then I feel it should. The speedo will drop to zero now and then but will work with just a tap. Tach works just fine. I will have to pull the gauge pod and check the ground nut I was told about.

Yeah, i love being led to think i have 1/3 tank of gas, only to hit a bump and the gauge to go to the red line.....
