Sometimes potential buyers flag an ad so that no one else can see them. It's not cool, but all is fair in love and war....oh and used car sales? Craigslist is no longer allowing third party hosting on ad images through sites like PhotoBucket. Each image needs to be uploaded individually

Craigslist Flagging
^ I saw your post man when you had it up.. Absolutely nothing wrong with it..
Nope only had text no links to pics. It was pretty organized also, and listed every I did to the car plus the few issues like SI battery's are slowly failing and the AC no longer works. Took me a good 25min to write the ad.

I do a lot of flagging but only for two reasons: those assholes who have every car related tag ever so whatever they are selling isn't relevant to 98% of searches it comes up for, and one salvage yard that puts up 15 posts per day.88 325is - S52 powered

Sweet well it's happening again! Had no issues with selling my red convertible just a few days ago. So far I've made a new account like someone suggested, however that didn't help. The worst part of all this is the ad. is for a technician at my work, that means rather then just posting it for him and calling it a day I need to watch it like a hawk wasting more of my time then expected.
It's been flagged 9 times so far....

I'm still baffled here, I've never had a single craigslist ad of mine flagged, and I've flagged hundreds of garbage and spammed ads and only very rarely does the thing I've flagged seem to go away. I've even tried flagging scam and keyword spam ads from multiple IP addresses to no avail.

Andddd the list continues to grow. Flagged 15 times and counting! At this rate I have nothing to loose, I'll continue to list it for the next 6 months if I have to. Shit I'll even add reminders/ notifications on my phone to repost it every 2 hours.
I also think it's getting flagged because of that Matt^
To the person that keeps flagging my posts, and has been for the past 8 months, I'm quite interested why you think it's necessary to do so. I'm a honest seller and I'm sure plenty of people here could pledge that for me.

Well I made a post asking the "Craigslist moderators" but it turns out majority of the people there replying are average guys like you or me who make suggestions on what you should change in your ad. I think I pissed a few of them off already on accident, but I've learned a few things so far that should be helpful for others who are having the same issue. First off It's pointless to post a question there, you'll be hated on like we hate on people who don't use the search button. If your ad. follows all the Craigslist terms and conditions someone is flagging your post ON PURPOSE. Craigslist doesn't remove the ad's, multiple people have to flag it and then it's removed automatically.
I'll quote the few things from them,
"Unless you've damaged your account very badly by posting so many ads, it takes way more than one flag to remove an ad. At first it takes many, many, many individual flags from individual IP addresses before an ad is automatically removed by the server. Each time you have an ad flagged off it takes FEWER flags to remove your other/subsequent ads until finally it takes only one or two. "
"The first thing you need to do is STOP POSTING! Each time you do that, and the ad is removed, the next one gets easier to remove (fewer flags needed)."
"One person can't remove your ad, that's just ridiculous. Flagging works the same way an election works: each person gets 1 flag/vote and the end result is the consensus of many people."
"What is the private party value of this vehicle? If you're asking for more then readers may flag you for being overpriced."
^Obviously this guy can't see why a 1986 3 series is worth $5k.
So as of now, my assumption is the same as Matt-B's, other sellers flag it not wanting a "nicer" car to get sold before theirs.Last edited by KIRIEIW; 07-10-2016, 04:02 PM.
