E30s racing in Portland, OR October 15

The Annual Cascade Enduro is running this Saturday. This is an 8 hour endurance race at Portland Int'd Speedway. Race starts at noon and runs until 8 PM. Roughly 50 cars will start the race, with 4 or 5 E30s in the mix.

I am driving with Wes Hill and Bill Spornitz in the Jagermeister E30. I will drive the final stint, from 5:30 until 8:00 PM. Yep, that means I'll be racing at night. A lot of fun, except if it is raining.

There is no cost to come spectate. Park outside the track then walk over the pedestrain bridge to the hot pits and you can see the cars up close before the green flag, then hang out in the pits once the race starts and/or go wander around to different parts of the track to watch the action. Of special note, the start is a LeMans style start, where the drivers stand across the track, they fire off a gun, then the drivers sprint across the track, quickly jump in the cars, tighten their belts, and drive off.

The yellow/black car is Ted's, yes. He wont be running at the enduro though.

OK, sounds like there will be 4 E30s in the race.

3 of them will be pitted together. If you are there before noon you can see them up close in the paddock. At noon they take the green flag and hopefully will only be stopping for fuel and driver changes until the checker flag at 8 PM.

Between 9 AM and noon we are given a series of short practice sessions. We'll use this to allow each driver to get about 15 minutes in the car pre-race to get acclimated to the car and track.

Even if it is not raining, it is usually pretty chilly mid-October so dress warm!

My cell is 425-443-2188 I'll keep it on down at the track. That might be the easiest way to track me down... or just look for the orange E30 :-)

                      Enduro is done

Well, the enduro is history for another year. Four E30s were entered. Some had problems, but all were able to finish the race. I drove the final leg in the orange Jagermeister car #17.

Here is a link to a nice write up and plenty of E30 pics from the race:

                      cheers,
