It's clearly an M40, and while it's not exactly difficult to find parts for them, those parts are most definitely not readily available in the US.

So, why are you selling it so soon OP?

I think this motor is a 318is. Apologies for not being very precise about the specs. I will be looking for a 325 wagon, so need the capital. I am trying to save as many as possible before they get crushed :(

If you really want to do that, sell it for exactly what you have in to it and be happy that another person will get to experience the fun that is E30 touring.

For reference, I sold my 318i touring (probably in worse shape than yours) for just under $6k last year. My 320i touring sold for under 5, although it was a project car all the way, and my 324td touring sold for under 7, and was decent aside from needing an engine controller.

When tourings first became eligible for import they were worth more to a select few, now the market is pretty well saturated, to the point that only the very best tourings are worth big bucks.

GLWS, and getting the new wagon!

Not to hijack too much, but I hope you like M40s, because I got another one, and it's really nice.

Also, prospective buyers of the listed wagon should be aware that the M40B18 is totally adequate for moving the touring along in modern traffic and will get good MPGs in the process.
