Medium case LSD will hold fine, though you might want to use a 2 ear diff cover from an e36 and fab a mount to the subframe. The problem isn't the LSD itself. Its that a single ear cover cant hold up to 250+ whp for very long.

I don't know, the Z3 M coupes came with S54s and still had single ear diff covers.

        Stock E30 cover

        Z3M cover.

Z3M cover is beefier. But from what I understand, the problem isn't related to the cover, its related to the diff mount on the subframe.

This pic is of the E30 Ls1 swap kit.

        Heres the thread link http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=177608

You can see that the mount looks very weak. People comment that any decent HP engine the diff will twist durning hard pulls. Traction is better with a dual ear diff cover, or a new weld on bracket similar to the E30-LS1 setup.

Good and tight knows more than me^

So do what he tells you.

I'm just going off of a few builds I've seen. I have no actual experience with high hp e30's because I have a stock m10. G&T knows how it is.

It's deff a good idea to go with the dual ear diff cover though, that will be my next project.
