    ECU identification.

    Came with my 1987 325es, but not sure if it's the b27 ecu or not. Having hard time figuring it out. Thanks for help in advance!

    Its a '525' dme, which is identical/interchangeable with the 173 dme. I had the same thing in one of my 325's, and was confused as well. Apparently it had come from a junkyard, as someone had written in sharpie '525i' on it. It took me a while to notice the '525' above the barcode, as searching for 527 didn't turn up much.

      I appreciate the help. I noticed the 525, but I didn't think that it would actually be from the 525. Looks like I'll be searching for the b25 engine then.

        That is a 525 DME, which was used on late production M20B25 engines in an E30 or in an early E34.
        The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
