    FS/FT: M42 cabrio (central FL)

    SOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD

    PRICE DROP $2000 FIRM

For sale is my '92 318i Cabrio, last year of the E30 M42s! The car's located in Deltona, FL (just north of Orlando) and is for sale for $2,400 obo or TRADES. Feel free to message me with a reasonable offer. It would probably be faster to email me at azzman@gmail.com as I don't come to r3vlimited very often.

I'm also interested in trades, so feel free to try and work something out .

If I'm violating some rule that I missed when I read the sticky by posting a for sale ad without enough posts or something, let me know.

    First, the good:

Clean title and I've owned the car since June 06.
Previous owner had a new top installed at 9x,xxx, unfortunately I lost the paperwork for this when I moved.
Has Mille Miglias that were on it when I bought it (no idea what model or size), and does not come with stockers (Spare is intact, however)
Engine runs smooth, but car has electrical gremlin and idle problem (detailed below)
    Clutch and transmission shift perfectly.

Despite the rest of the faults the car has, they're mostly minor and plentiful, and most of the big stuff is intact. Now, the bad. Mostly little things but admittedly quite a few:

Odo died at 103k as seen in the pics
Clearcoat is peeling, and there are some spots of oxidation where the paint is exposed. Definitely needs paint.
Two small rust holes in the rear bumper and some around the exhaust but NO other rust
Windshield has a couple really small cracks. Not a major concern
    Dash has three cracks
Shifter and boot are old and somewhat worn
Glovebox latch is broken so it won't close.
Strut that holds the top hatch open in the back is old and needs to be held open when putting top up or down.
Starter is starting to go- Takes 2 cranks to start her most of the time, sometimes 3
Needs to be aligned, pulls to the right a bit but not enough for me to even notice, really.
Engine idles weird when cold as of a few days ago. Possibly a vacuum hose loose somewhere... I don't know what to look for. It goes away once the engine warms up though and the car doesn't stall out.

    Now the electrical problem...
The car runs perfectly fine and this does NOT affect that

The car has a short or something that causes the battery to drain if it's not cranked every so often. It can go a few days sometimes before the battery dies, but it'll go if you let it. I had originally assumed I had left on a light switch or the radio or something similar that was causing this to happen, but after checking everything, I couldn't find anything. I've also assumed it might be the glovebox where there's a light that trigges on without a bulb or something, but I'm not sure.
It could also be the alternator, or just some grounded wire or something that causes this to happen. Whatever it is, I just take the pos charge off the battery whenever I'm not driving the car with a wrench I keep in the glovebox, and then hook it up when I need to.

That about does it. I have nothing to hide with this car and I think the price reflects how solid the car is despite all the minor little flaws, and to be honest, none of the minor flaws are a very big deal- they don't affect how the car runs or drives or anything. If anyone has any comments about the problems that they would like to make me aware of, as I've stated everything I know (which is very little- mostly assumptions from having dealt with the problems myself), feel free to PM me.

Again, if interested, PM me or email me at my personal email, azzman@gmail.com.

Thanks for looking, and here are the pics- feel free to request specific photos and I'll try to get them.

Is there a limit in the timeframe we can bump our for sale threads up? I haven't particularly noticed one, and while I don't plan to bump daily, I'd like to keep the car somewhere on teh first couple pages, but I know some forums where you're only allowed weekly or even bi-weekly, or MONTHLY bumps! What's the concensus around here?

What are those two yellow wires coming off the fuse box?

Good question- to be honest, I have ABSOLUTELY no idea. I can go take a look and see what I can see... but chances are I will have no clue what they go to.

Could that be the source of your battery drain?

It very well could be. I just checked and one of the wires appears to be going from a fuse into the bay somewhere, but I lost track of it.

I'm sure the battery drain is something simple like that.

I noticed today that the idle issue only happens when the engine's cold. Once it warms up the engine idles fine and dandy.

Price drop, I need $2000 and I'm 100% firm on that, but first $2k takes it.
