No more rear seats ---> carpet install

Well I have had my rollbar in without a rear seat for about 5 years now. At first I had an amp rack back there but since removed the stereo and had it patched with grey carpet. It was a temporary fix until I found new carpet.

Fast forward to last week - I finally pulled all the misc panels and redid it in one piece of carpet so it is smooth - I also covered the rear parcel shelf so it blends in.

It wasn't very hard at all, just had to trim it around the rollbar and a couple of odd curves.

So I snapped a pic while the crossbars are out and thought you guys might enjoy:

I like that. I made panels for mine so it flows better..

you should think about doind the same.
I covered the side panels and made a panel for the floor.
sorry I dont have photos of that stuff..

^that is very similar to how I had it before, one flat piece up top with the rest carpeted.

I didn't want to make panels because of the added weight and time involved

I bought one 4x8 sheet of panel board.
              maybe a total of 4-5lbs.
              its not much at all.
for all panels maybe a total or 10lbs.
people remove all of this stuff from there cars to gain hp and throttle responce, but your not going to get traction with no weight on the rear tires.

How are you going to be attaching the panel? I am interested in seeing how it turns out for you, although I have to say it isn't for me. 10 pounds is a decent amount of weight, maybe not noticeable by itself but it all adds up in the end.

the side panels attach like stock panels do.
the rear connects with the plastic clips thats used on the door panels and the bottom just fits snugly in place so it dont move.

That looks really clean, easier to carry stuff back there too. But isn't that going to basically be the same weight as the seats? Those things don't weigh much.

The carpet weighs less than a pound. The seats definitely aren't too heavy but probably 10-15 pounds, maybe more.

When I first installed the bar I was going to put the seats back in but they didn't fit without bending them into place, and the passenger's heads would nail the rollbar in any collision, too dangerous for having people back there.

Can anyone post the pictures again? I'm considering doing this for my back seat because apparently finding a decent rear cloth seat in black is impossible.

And yeah, old thread bump, but its all that came up with in search.

                        Thanks.
