    Fuel Pump Replacement- TRE performance

Well, in hopes to fix my starting or non-starting issue with the vert, I decided to tackle/replace the 21 year old fuel pump.

I ordered the BMW 255 LPH fuel pump from TRE Performance (TRE 340) last wednesday and it was delivered on saturday. :) (west coast to east coast shipping).

Received the package and here is the replacement unit with respect to the Bosch factory one.

    New filter/Old filter

    New pump harness/wiring and clamps

The Bosch unit is soldered in and had to be cut out, which was fine as I needed to solder in the new wiring harness anyways.

Preparation of the new harness, includes heat shrink insulators:

Obviously (well maybe not for some), BUTT connectors will not work here, you need to solder, and properly seal your connections.

Next was the assembly of the hose/clamp

    Here's the complete assembly

With only one problem, the O-ring sent with the kit does not fit/match the OEM one.

a trip to autozone and .59 cents later

I replaced the unit in the car, as described by the bentley. Unfortunately this did not solve my non-starting issue, but there is some peace of mind that the 21 year old fuel pump is not going to go on me....oh and the pump kit cost $79.99 shipped.

Thanks...bought a new fuel filter...we'll see how the trouble shooting goes, but I wanted to take the time for a detailed write up for others.

I've done this swap also and have run it for over a year. The only issue I had was that very long filter fitting into the baffle.

Above was done on an 87 325 (eta)

Edit: Ahh, it seems they swapped the filter for a shorter/smaller one! My voice was heard when I complained to them. Cool. :)

Sorry to bump this, but I'm in the market for a new pump and the these TRE pumps look like a nice alternative!

How is the car running now, any issues with the pump?

I'll vouch for their quality too. It's a nice pump for the price.
