    E36 harness, E30 starter wiring

I just want to make sure I've got the way things are supposed to be wired, correct in my head.

We can then add these pictures to "JGoods" thread on 24v swap as part of the FAQ.

A: Is this lug "hot" or is it just another mounting bolt?

B & D: Coming from the E30 fuse box, one is red and one is orange-ish. Are these both power wires or is one a ground?

C: Is coming out with the big wire from the battery, it is a power to connect where the starter wire connects, correct?

E: This terminal on the E30 starter is where I should connect all "hot" leads to?

A: This is the power wire for the harness correct?

B: Two brown wires inside the sheath, this is the ground for the harness to attach to the ground on the strut tower correct?

Please point out anything I have wrong, and then we can add this info to the new 24v swap thread by JGood.

      ^Nice contribution fuckup.

omar85, thanks for the links. It appears that in my first pic.

      "C" attachs to "A", and "B" and "D" attach to "E"

And that in my second pic, the red wire is the power wire for the harness and the bundle of brown wires is the ground for the harness.

Can I get a confirmation that I've got that right?

That makes sense to me... I think you got it right.

Yes. C should be the wire that is paired with the large battery cable. It is attached to the battery in the trunk through a fusible link. That way if you are stranded with a dead battery, and the car is jumped from the front of the car with the wrong polarity, you don't fry the DME.

            Yes, B and D attach to E.

Yes. The second pic is the leg of the E36 harness that the diagnostic connector sprouts from, right? If so, you are correct.

              Awesome. Thanks.

Looks like I'll get to do some more work on wiring this evening.
