    New to the E30 world

    Hey everyone,

Name is Mike and I am a part of sbeuroclub. Just purchased a 1990 325i 5spd and I am super pumped to jump onto the forums. I have always wanted an older bmw stick shift, and a local listing finally came up so I jumped on the opportunity. I have a long list of things I need for the car, so if anyone has anything to sell in socal for cheap, I'm all ears!

The car needs some exterior work, but it drives smoother than most e36 M's i have test driven over the last year. Thanks and I'm looking forward to many great times on the forum!

    ~Mike

Nice color. Nice interior. Fix that bumper and clean her up and she should be really nice...

I did indeed. It does have the mechanical issues but it was a pleasure to drive on the road and I won't be concerned with AC and radio on the track. Got her down to $1,100, so not bad.

You have a gletscherblau car. I have a sedan in this same color. It is a somewhat less common color.

Cool, another SB E30. I don't frequent euroclub too much as they tend to be more about newer cars, but I'm on there.

Good first E30 (I'd fix the bumper though, asap). I should be doing a motor swap on mine this weekend.

Some bad news. The deal was sealed on the notion that the car was in great condition. I took it to HP autowerks (local euro specialists) and they gave me a list of things that needed to be done...

                              coolant flush
                              transmission flush
                              brake fluid flush
                              new oil pan
suspension is due for an upgrade
the rear rotors and calipers and nearly destroyed
a handle full of other things as well, such as an "unknown" oil leak. The whole engine is pilled with oil, lol.

Not to mention new pads, tires are almost completely bald, AC doesn't work, all the sensors are out, and the radio doesn't work...

Other than that the engine runs fine and dandy.

all that would come out to be around $1,400 in repair. All of this needs to be done in the next 500 miles or the car will fall apart. The mechanic said it wasn't worth more than KBB and I offered $700 for all the effort I would need to restore the car to a MAINTAINABLE. She would not dip below $1,100 at all. So I don't know, maybe she will realize that it isn't worth that much. Good luck to whoever gets it.
