Anyone want a vent gauge setup?

I know Alpina made one already but the prices they are asking for it is insane.

A few people asked to see if I could come up with a design since they race their e30 and wanted a vent solution so here are some pictures of the vent pod design I came up with.

The digital gauge displays that I plan to match up with the pod (pod can hold up to 2 displays side by side) will be user selectable combinations of single LED display with bar graph

or dual LED displays without bar graph

In other words you can monitor minimum of 1 item up to 4 items and you can mix and match to your needs. If you use both your vents you can monitor up to 8 items.

It will kind of look like this

That's pretty cool, are they only going to be LED digit gauges or can you get analog gauges as well? Or for that matter what size are the cutouts in the pod and how much for just the pod?

I don't have a price as I just made the pod design and still have to get the injection mold made, then have the gauge made for it.

But if you want a ballpark the dual display gauges retail at $109 each, then you have to buy the senders for them, so lets say you want boost, oil temp, oil pressure and water temp (sender average $40 each) so that gets to $378 + the price of the pod.

So about $400 to monitor those 4 items.

That's a lot less than what the Alpina setup sells for and you get to choose what items you want to monitor.

The initial design is to be based around the digital gauges. I didn't think of using analog ones since the idea was to mimic the Alpina vent setup.

I'll have to check what size the opening is on the pod to see if it will clear the bezel of my 52mm gauge.

I think the digital would look awsome in a e46. In a e30 not sumuch.

Analog would look good though. Me thinks~

The whole project was to create a setup that looks like the Alpina vent gauge setup which is digital.

Just an update to enhancements to this product

1 - working on replacing the switch that is currently supplied with a flat capacitive touch switch.

2 - OBD2 scan gauge module is now available. I will post up pictures once I have it installed in my touring.
