Been driving the swap around now for 5 days, motor/drivetrain have felt amazing, had a small vacuum leak, the small line from the vent on the valve cover that runs to the manifold side of the icv hose is off. Today I stopped at my house to pick up some things then head back out, cranked over the car and during the crank there was an audible(loud) single crack sound, followed by grey smoke out of the dash and out of the intake. The car starts and runs, but now sounds like its running on 2-3 cylinders and really lopey. Doesn't respond to throttle inputs.
There's been no further clunks, metal sounds, no crunching, so I think my block is ok. I believe the problem either lays in the valve train, maybe snapped vanos/cam chain? skipped a tooth? or could this be electrical?
Any ideas, I haven't gone back to look at the car but I'm gonna take the valve cover off when I get back, as well do a compression test.
