The, "James needs to fix this because he never reads PM's or Suggestions" Thread

I'll be honest, I get tons of PM's a day, emails, and I rarely if ever have time to go through everything. I live a very occupied life which does not leave me a ton of time to surf r3v all day and see whats going.

So, I'm starting this thread. Please post suggestions for this forum ONLY, no battles, no quotes of other users. I'll respond to them as I check the thread with my opinion of how hard (if at all) they would be to implement.

I'll start with stuff I know about

1) Captcha - The spammers suck, we need a better captcha system

2) Unknown thread after logging into the forums to respond to a post

The challenge with this is the VBGallery software. VBulletin told me to simply remove it, however we have thousands of photos uploaded to the thing and I really don't want to just delete them. I need to sit down and figure out a solutions as VBulletin 4.0 is out and has native gallery support.

3) E-Mail notifications are not reliable! -- I'm aware, the problem is we are blocked by the ISP's for spamming as the forum software sends out a pretty substantial amount of mail. While we have followed proper configuration guidelines for email we (for some reason) always get flagged from time to time

4) YOU NEVER READ YOUR PM's! -- Sorry, I'm terrible at reading them, I know I'm terrible at reading them, and I will probably continue to be terrible at reading them. Please put a little pressure on the other admins (Josh, John) and the Super Moderators (go to the R3V Board home page, on the bottom click on View Forum Leaders to see them) with questions about user accounts, or questions in general

5) I WANT TO CHANGE MY USERNAME!?!? -- This is probably the reason I don't check PM's as much anymore. Please don't PM me about this, I'm going to ignore them. You need to be responsible when selecting a user account, and other then meeting me in a person and handing me a beer, you will probably not get your name changed..sorry

Thats all I can think of now, anything else lemme know.

Thanks,

That is the server running maint. at 2 - 3am PST. Based upon the hardware we have that will stick around for quite awhile.

We're not installing tapatalk. James and I have already had discussions about this. Forum add-ons are a pain in the ass, and rarely work right the first time.

Friend of mine is not receiving his activation email.

User: pacemkr

What about Postmark, AuthSMTP, or sendgrid? Basically you pay a small sum (relatively) and they make sure to deliver your mail. Postmark is cheaper

this is kind of unnecessary, but would reduce the number of posts that are simple "haha" or ":rofl" +1.

my idea, which i've seen on other forums, would be to implement a way to "like" someone's post or "thank them" for the post. maybe it would be indicated by a small number on the bottom saying how many people had liked it.

yeah? good idea to reduce clutter?
