After doing some research I'm guessing that the whining noise I am hearing is coming from my diff. It's an open diff and the pitch of the whine increases as I pick up speed till I get to a higher speed when I can't hear it. But as speed decreases you hear it again.
When I am coasting and put the car in neutral and let it coast, I can hear the whine as i am slowing down. Would the diff still be the culprit? I plan on checking the fluid level as soon as I can find someone with the right hex socket. Any suggestions welcome.
I thought maybe it was the wheel bearing from what I read in other threads, but I remember the noise it made before I had the left rear bearing replaced and that noise was more metallic sounding like having low brake pads
