    Help with head gasket replacement.

I think my car has a blown head gasket. So I'm gonna replace the head gasket and timing belts myself. It's the first car I own and it's the first one I maintain myself. I have 0 mechanics experience, but hopefully I will do this job with some help.

    Story:

When I first got the car, it ran so well. The only concern was that the temp gauge goes up when the car is in idle. I thought it might be just a bad sensor. And since it's running well, I didn't have the timing belt replaced. You know, just to save some money. I check engine oil regularly, but I was so dumb I didn't check the coolant level even once. It snowed last thanksgiving in Seattle, and I took the car to a spin, yes, spin. It drove fine. But several days later, the coolant light is on. I put some water in it and it kept running without a problem. I drove the car for months after the coolant issue, and every time the light is on, I put water in it. I wanted to do a timing belt maintenance after this symptom occurred so I brought my car to a mechanic for him take a look. He said it had no problem, it might be just a bad coolant level sensor. So again, I didn't do a timing belt change. 2 weeks later, bang! Big problem. My E30 leaks a shit ton of water, and the engine oil became chocolate milk shake. The there's a new leak from the engine. It's at the third cylinder between the block and head. So I assumed it's a blown head gasket.
I haven't drove the car for like a month now, because I really don't want a wrapped head.

    Question:

I assumed it's a head gasket problem. But I'm not sure because I barely have any car mechanic experience. Does it look like a head gasket problem?

    Pictures:

This is the leak. Third cylinder. Maybe from the head gasket.

    Milk shake engine oil.

Furthermore, i did some research on how to replace the head gasket. And I made a shopping list for the job.

I was wondering if you guys can help me verify the list and tell me the things I need extra.

    Thanks a lot guys!!

    Thanks again!!

a compression test will help. you can also pressure test the coolant stystem. If you get shitty numbers then change head gasket

Thanks! I'll do more research on compression tests. The engine oil on the dipstick is kinda watery, I think it's a mixture of water and engine oil. Do I need to have a oil change first? And then to see if it's still like that? My car also leaks a lot of water. And it overheats a bit. I'm really concerned.

      Thanks!

Dont forget to get new head bolts as well now that you're heads are off, or if your're on a budget just tighten the old ones down 10 psi more, make sure you look up all the torque specs as well. I just replaced my head gasket..
