s52 main bearing torque spec & oe winday tray question

    Hey,
I'm trying to remove the little metal braket that holds the oil sump pickup in on an s52. To do this I have to remove the main bearing cap, any body know the torque spec? I glanced in the bentley and couldn't find it.

also that oe windage tray, is there any reason to keep it with the e34 oil pan?

    Thanks!
    Julien

Just bend the bracket until it breaks. No need to remove the bearing cap. If the e34 pan has a windage tray, you can't user the stock e36 windage tray.

When I meant windage tray I was referring to the bolted on tray right below the camshaft on the rear side of the motor..

Some of the E34 pans have the windage tray built into them. You can use one or the other but not both. Its easier to take it off the engine then the pan.

Google bmw torque specs. The pdf file will be on the 1st page. Great one to have downloaded to your computer. Cntrl f function ftw! You can put s52 in the search function and easily find the torque specs on almost every bolt. Just an fyi. Looks like everything alse has been covered. Those bolts are tty nolts and must be replaced if you go that route.

The main bearing cap bolts are one time use stretch bolts just like head bolts. Just bend the bracket back and forth until it breaks off, easy. Done.

in theory, the e36 tray points the oil to the back of the motor, no?
