    New style eBay turbo manifold

Anyone have any opinions on the new design? Anyone have it? Is fitment better than the other one? Looks pretty good to me...

So, I have searched and searched and from all the manifolds I could find and not worrying about cost, I decided to buy the turbo manifold from cx racing.

Once I started to mount the manifold to the block, I had trouble with the holes lining up with the studs on my motor. I then compared the gasket that came with the manifold and found that they were off way to much to install the manifold w/out drilling the holes larger.

I called CX Racing thinking that maybe I just got a bad one. I spoke to "Ace" about it and right from the start I wasn't taken serious and he acted as if I were lying. I felt as if I were speaking with a middle school student !

I gave him my number and he said he would call me back once he got more info. I sent him the following photos to show exactly what problem I was having.

Ace called back after viewing the images I sent and said that all of their manifolds were just like the one I had. I was very disappointed and really had no other choice but to make it work. I called back the next day and spoke to an Asian man who acted as if nothing was wrong and eventually was cursed at and told to send it back if I didn't like it.

I believe CX Racing is the most unhelpful and rudest company that I have ever dealt with. I find it ridiculous that they don't have some type of quality control and cannot produce a product to match the gasket's holes that THEY send with the manifold.

I couldn't find any other manifold with an external wastegate adapter so I decided to drill out the holes and make the product work.

I was told by Ace that he was going to send me a $30 refund for the time it took me to drill out the holes, it has been a week and I have not received any type of refund.

I have looked at the cast TCD manifolds and have been told that they will not allow my turbo to spool up as well as the CX design. I don't know what the reason is but, if anyone know's please let me know.

If you decide to go with the CX manifold, be aware that it will require some modifications.

As if that weren't enough, once I started to bolt the turbo to the manifold I found that some of the bolts they sent with the manifold were too long and that a nut would be impossible to get on the backside due to the tubing. I am now looking to by studs instead of using the included bolts and nuts.

Their are many flaws to this design and it has become a real pain in the ass to install !

The description also states that this manifold is a new design and will allow clearance to the oil filter. That is not true, my oil filter would butt right up against the manifold and it would be impossible to remove once it is on.

I had to buy an oil filter relocation kit ! The oil filter may have clearance if your's points to the rear of the car (which some do) but, mine points straight out of the block aiming towards the passenger wheel.

Guess CX Racing doesn't know that different year e30's oil filter's have different positions.

This is a picture of the manifold installed after drilling out the holes.

I have a T3/T4 turbo and it's mounting holes line up with the inner holes on the manifold. The hole on the inner top right seems to be impossible to get a bolt through once the turbo is alligned with the manifold. The inner bottom left hole has tubing behind it and will not allow clearance for a nut to be threaded onto the bolt. I haven't gotten it mounted yet do to this problem and will try and locate some studs to replace the bolts that THEY sent with the manifold.

This install should have taken about 2 hrs....it's now been a several and I am still not finished !!!!

The CX Racing company seems to be run by a bunch of idiots !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not surprised at all that it didn't fit perfect. Even when I read the description of it clearing everything I knew that would be a load of shit. And that's the case with all eBay products. I will say cxracing are know to make good intercooler kits. I've yet to try theirs but going by the customer service I wouldn't buy from them just so they don't get their satisfaction of you dealing with them again.

There are other manifolds that have a provision for an external gate and will clear everything. For example the m21 diesel manifold are pretty good only issue is they make the turbo sit a bit close to the valve cover but its not that bad and they're cheap. You can also go for a revshift manifold adapter for about $300. Which is a nice piece of work in terms weld quality and steel thickness which is something you don't get with typical eBay manifolds. And they're fabricated while sitting on an m20 head which means they will clear everything. Only issue with them though is you have to wait about a month to arrive because these are made by hand. But they look to flow better due to not having ugly collectors you find on a cxracing manifold.

I would just get the full revshift manifold if funds are not to tight. They stand behind their product which is why I offer them in my turbo kits.

looks like a turbo mounted to that would hit the inner part of the engine bay. or do my eyes deceive me?

It's REALLY close but mine fits. You do have to turn the intercooler intake face down or else you can't run the pipe to it.

I just finished re routing the plumbing for mine now I have to figure out how to bolt the right side of the turbo to the manifold....not much room to work with !

From all the google-ing I did, Revshift never once popped up. If it had've I would have bought it instead. Their's no way I'm removing the cx manifold now that it's already on ! I'll just use it until it cracks and then I'll get the Revshift.

Si. I have not really been advertising all the services i offer. I'm pretty much a one stop shop. Pretty much anything you want i can do or can set you up with a company that will hook you up. One day i'll get my website up with my body of work.

I finally got the turbo mounted on the CX manifold. I ended up having to take the turbo apart to mount it and then re-assemble the rest of the turbo. It was fairly simple. Now I'm having a custom downpipe made.

I had a buddy who picked up the same manifold shown above for a turbo project. We test fit on an extra cylinder head and it slid right on perfectly. He has since resold the manifold since he's staying NA but I though it looked pretty decent! Ideally it needs some minor cleaning up with a porting bit but not bad for the price.

kreaglewon, your car is supposed to have a factory oil cooler and a oil filter mounted sideways. Sounds like somebody removed it from your car at one point. The cool thing about the CX manifold is it clears the stock filter housing and A/C compressor.
