M20 Intermediate Shaft Sprocket Removal Question

    Hello All,

I'm a relatively new member to the e30 world. As the title of the thread indicates, I'm trying to remove the sprocket that attaches to the intermediate shaft on an M20 motor. I can't find a good method to keep the sprocket stationary and was wondering what you guys have done in the past.

Thanks in advance for any help.

edit: I attached a photo in case any of my nomenclature was wrong and I confused anyone.

      +1 on both counts.

Also, get the updated sprocket as long as you're in there.

^ That happened to a friend of mine as well... that's the reason I'm using the late model one in my 2.8 build :)

When I was taking mine off I stuck a deep well sock it in the timing cover till the gear couldn't move then just broke the nut free.
