Hawk Black front brake pads for DE or AutoX, etc

I've got a couple of extra sets of New, in the box, Hawk Black brake pads that fit E30 front calipers. These are described as "Medium torque and temperature compound designed to be a good, all-purpose low- cost racing brake pad."


These are NOT the latest and greatest compound to help you squeeze that last tenth of a second out of your laptimes, but they are a good all-around pad for track use, and a good upgrade from most street or "performance" brake pads. I would NOT recommend them for street use, but I know some people do use them on their street/track cars.

No. Blacks are blacks, HT-10's are HT-10's.


Here's what I found about the 2 compounds:


The Hawk HT-10 is one of Hawk's intermediate motorsport pads, offering more heat capacity than the Blue 9012, less rotor wear, and less aggressive dust. The HT-10 is a popular pad across a wide range of racing venues, from road racing to pavement circle track. HT-10 is commonly used as a front application on light to medium weight cars (up to 2800lbs.), but most customers with heavier, faster cars opt for a front compound with a higher mu and heat capacity for the track, such as the DTC-70.

hrm. Just trying to figure out if these are more or less agressive then 10's. I run them on my E36 and theyre pretty rough on the street.

I've never run HT-10's but based on the specs, I'd say that Blacks are less agressive than most of Hawk's "race" pads. If I had to make up a chart, it'd go something like this (from most aggressive to least):

HT-10
HT-9
HT-8
Blue 9012
Black


I know there are many more compounds, but I can't comment on where they would fit in on this list.

I got the pads sometime last week I think. They look great and will make nice a nice spare set for our Lemons car.
