Make a deal with him. Tell him you will get a good water pump and install it and if it runs you will buy it from him and if it doesn't run he will pay you for the water pump job. I'd have a hard time taking his word that the water pump is the only problem with it not running

I'm more interested in the second one. The guy said the interior was 9.5 out of 10. Said he has receipts for all recent maintnance. It's kinda high milage but i'll have some money left over to get some things for it.
What do you guys think?

since september of 2011, i have been all over the easter seaboardlooking for a nice 325ix. i have to say that I am very disappoited of the E30 people. I had to look at nothing but junk from maine all the way down to gorgia. the amount of liars that i hat to deal with is unreal. i usually buy 2-3 car a year for the past 20 years this had been the most (the most) disappointing search ever. I am now the proud owner of a 2 wheel drive 1991 325IX which the owner asured me that he did the jack test on the day before i fly to detroit to pick the car up. when i did my own jack test in front of him and it fail said to me "it worked last night". PS the heated dont work have a nice 8 hour drive back to CT.

Sounds like bunch of bad luck. I've been looking for the past 2 or 3 months. I seen this one in Jacksonville. I think i might pick it up. It's hard to find a nice e30, and craigslist is the worst haha.

On your test drive, take it to a shop and shell out $100 or 200 for a full inspection, tell the bubbas you don't want any punches pulled when they give you the prognosis. That 1 or 2 hundred could end up saving you thousands.


now i say that but never had the sense to do it myself... always just take a buddy along with me.

Yea i usally take a buddy along with me as well haha. I have all the stuff to do a leak down test and compression test, but that only goes so far.
