    F**k I'm an A$$hole (5speed swap help)

So I'm pretty sure I blew up my automatic tranny and I'll admit Its my fault. Story:

So I'm cursing main street manayunk tonight with my roommate and going past a group of girls im bored and throw my car in to neutral rev it then drop it back into drive and do a rolling burn out. I get the head turns I'm looking for (I know I'm an asshole, etc.) Drive along fine for a bit then lose power going forward. It revs but its like my trannys not catching or something. It'll go forward in drive but almost no power not even enough to go up a hill. I've parked it in a wawa parking lot and told the people working there that I'm going to leave it there till I get a tow truck to move it to my garage.

    Ok so
1.) Flame suit on - I know this is my fault and completely accept responsibility for the stupidity of my actions.
2.) I knew this day was coming I hate the auto tranny in my vert and have a decent amount of 5speed swap parts accumulated.
3.) The point of me making this thread was to figure out EXACTLY what parts are needed for me to start this swap as I am out a car until I get it running again and have never done an 5 speed swap.
4.) the parts I have are: getrag 260, 5 speed drive shaft, e30 clutch, e30 flywheel, e30 pressure plate, transmission support brace, newish guibo, shift linkage, new throw out bearing, and new transmission mounts.

5.) my question to r3v is what additional parts (total) do I need and can I do this with out air tools?

AGAIN, I know I am a stupid jackass and I'm sure I'll catch hell from some people and that I deserve it. I just want to look towards the future and understand what it will take to get this trans swap done.

Ha, no need for air tools...just a torque wrench. You'll need pedals and a pilot bearing. Im sure I'm missing something, sure its not something motor wise? Like a broken rocker arm?

I dont think so it revs fine just feels like its not catching. no weird noises coming from the engine either it just doesn't really move forward when you step on the pedal.

Won't catch flack from me. It's an auto transmission. Whoopty doo.

Pedal box/Clutch pedal, brake pedal, long bolt.
Slave cylinder, Master cylinder w/resevoir hose, Lines and hoses in between are optional but recommended. You CAN bend parts store straight brake line to make it work.
        PILOT BEARING!

        Basically all that's left really.

As for air tools? No, you really don't. It just makes the bolts on the top of the trans and starter bolts done a lot quicker and easier. It also makes dropping the heat shield a snap. Can greatly help with exhaust bolts if yours are rusty.

As for tools, Inverted torx bits (Harbor freight, 15.99 or less)
        metric set of flare wrenches

And that pretty much covers the special tools you need.

Good thing you broke the trans. It took me forever to get to the swap after I had all the parts, purely because I just didn't want to.

Get new flywheel bolts, and new pressure plate bolts. Also good time to put rebuilt shift linkage and ssk in there. and while the tranny is out, may as well put new seals on it, and do the rear main seal on the block

Use all the guides available. Realoem, the bently, and Yoshi's guide are the tools I used. Before this the hardest thing I did was replace the intake manifold gaskets, lol. I did the swap on jackstands in a gravel driveway. I'm an idiot and I've driven it 3,000 so far without problems. You shall do well.

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.

Thanks for all the advice and info. Just got it towed to my house in jersey so I can work on it over spring break, so much for going to Florida. I'm actually pretty happy about it right now, I've been trying to kill that tranny for awhile and I'll have an entire week tear into it and play with my tools.

My current plan of attack is to look around for the parts I still need and see if I can get a deal on a evo3 kit or something. Then start buying them over the next week so that they'll be at my house when I get back on the 1st. OR I might just wait till I get back home and check out a pickurpart near my house. I definitely will be inspecting all the seals and replacing the bolts.

Courtesy of the guys at www.slidewaysonline.com As always if you have any suggestions for other well put together DIY email me at rytis@rtsauto.com I also have another guide up for swapping auto to manual. To put it bluntly, this is not an easy task. Our swap (Viet and I) took roughly 7 hours not including pedal installation

I would give credit to the guys and website that put this together but to be honest I have no idea.... this is something i just saved on my computer maybe 1-2 years ago. In all seriousness, if you can find a same year car in the junkyard it makes things a lot easier. I 5speed swapped my '89 a couple years back and used all junkyard parts except wear items. One thing i did that i don't see much on the interwebs is to get the entire clutch switch sub harness off the manual car, it plugged right in to where the neutral switch sub harness plugs in (the main chassis harnesses were the same)

Tool wise your gonna need a decent swivel/universal and about 3" of extensions to get the top bell housing bolts. Great time to invest in a cordless impact gun, but as said above this job is easily done with hand tools. Also start soaking the bell housing bolts with PB blaster, u should be able to barely see the top ones from the engine bay, atleast enough to get some PB on them.
