I bought this car about two months ago and after fixing a few things have been using it as my daily driver. It was an impulse buy and looking back was probably not the greatest use of my money. Not long after buying it, the shop I work part time at told me there just wasn't enough stuff coming in for me to do anything useful, so I now have no source of income. I'm going out of state for college in August, so having two cars makes no sense for me and it would be great to avoid going into too much debt. The car is basically rust free other than the bottom corner of the passenger fender having a small hole. I have a red replacement fender that comes with the car that isn't rusted. The body is so-so. It has some little dents and dings mostly on the fenders but nothing too bad. One of the PO's did try to jack the car up with the drivers side fender, leaving a small dent in the bottom and causing it to be pushed out a little bit (which is why the IX trim is loose under the driver door.) The radiator support was a little bent when I bought it, so I bent it back so the grilles would fit on it. Only evidence now is a small indent under the passenger side grille. As you can see from the pictures, the clear coat is pretty much gone and the car could use paint in general. The car is mechanically solid from front to back though. The guy I bought it from worked in a euro car shop for 20 years and sent this list of things he had done to it:

    Engine:
Washer fluid res. cap and washer hose replaced along with drain cock.
    Intake boot replaced
    Water pump replaced
    Thermostat replaced
    Timing belt & tensioners replaced
    Repaired starter and alternator cable
Water hoses replaced top & lower
    Valve cover gasket replaced
    valve job/adjusted hot & cold
Timing belt dust cover upper and lower replaced
    outside temp sensor replaced
    Replaced all spark plugs

    Drivetrain:
Right front & rear wheel bearings replaced
Transfer case was serviced before I bought it and fluid looks good and does not whine
Rear parking cable on leftside replaced
Needs oilpan gasket and oil filter housing seals replaced (leaks a little oil nothing major)
Rear shocks have been replaced with HD Bilsteins as well as mounting hardware

    Dash is MINT!
Trip computer works and replaced the bulbs
Cluster everything works and replaced bulbs
    Needs hazard switch
Aftermarket CD player (was in it when I purchased)
    All windows work
Cools good but heater core may need to be flushed as it does not get as hot as it should
Carpet is good but could use a professional detail
Seats are good and I have conditioned the crap out of them (not heated)
    Sunroof works
    head liner is great
    Tires are good
Brakes and rotors are good I checked them and broke all the calipers. pins & slides down, cleaned them and regreased them with high temp. waterproof grease.

    Car runs strong!
After I bought the car, I replaced one of the front CV boots that had a small tear (plenty of grease and no clunking) and regreased the other 3. I also put new billy HD's on the front and replaced the driver side strut tower since the threads to hold the shocks in place were stripped. I also put a brand new K&N High Flow air filter in. I have the oil pan gasket and filter housing gasket on hand but haven't replaced them yet.

Short summary: 1990 325ix with 143k original miles. Mechanically solid, bone stock other than K&N High Flow Air Filter and Brand new Bilsteinn Heavy Duty shocks and 15" Konig Rewind wheels. Interior is probably 9/10. Roof rack in pics not included with car.$3500

Trades plus cash on your end now considered. Would drive a few hours to meet for the right trade

Could have. Didn't because A) I didn't have the money for springs and wanted to get it on the road and B) It just doesn't seem right on an IX

I'd love one but your too far and I'm too poor. They look like great rally cross candidates. And good for a ski trip.
