1985 BMW 325 Track Car
Hey guys, have for sale my project E30 track car with an M50 swap. Car runs and drives fairly well just needs some fine tuning and a new owner. I believe this was an ex SCCA solo car. Some things have changed with my finances, and it wouldn’t be a bad idea to sell the extra car for some extra cash. Also interested in neat trades plus at least 1k cash.
Specs are as follows:
1985 325E (approx 200k chassis)
M50 Vanos engine OBD1 from 1994 525i (approx 125k)
E30 G260 trans with new fluid (redline)
New clutch and flywheel
Autopower bolt in cage
Sparco Evo 2 seats
5 Point harnesses
Partial interior, mostly stripped and dynomatted
Battery in trunk
3:45 LSD rear from 318ti
Shocks, springs (eibach rear) and struts from 2000 M coupe
E36 M3 control arms
E30 325is Sway bars
ATE slotted rotors
Hawk Pads
Stainless brake lines
New exhaust
Electric Fan
2 sets of bottlecaps
Trailer hitch
Bavarian strut brace
Autometer gauges (oil pressure, water temp, volts)
New Behr E36 radiator
E36 M3 quick ratio steering rack
Treehouse racing brake booster
Exterior: Exterior is fair; it is definitely not a show car. It would be just fine for the track or thrashing around on the streets. Paint is faded here and there, dents and dings but nothing crazy. Small bit of rust on front passenger fender near base.
Interior: Pretty stripped out but I have retained most of the dash and a small console. The gauges are mounted nicely. Clean setup for the track.
Engine: The engine is running ok, it seems to be running rich and I could never really figure out why. It made the 125 mile trip home and hasn’t really done much since then. It tends to dip when returning back to idle and the plugs are showing it running rich. Otherwise seems to be in good condition, oil looks good. No leaks what so ever (my guess is the PO resealed the engine). Starts everytime.
Drive train: The brakes were fantastic and stop very well. The suspension feels great and the high ratio rear keeps the revs up nicely. Probably not the best for highway action, neared 4k at 70mph.
Problems: Known problems include the rich idle and off idle condition. Also after a heavy rain, water seems to accumulate mostly on the driver’s floor but occasionally on the passenger side. I have not had time to check this out.
Take a look at the pics and feel free to ask any questions. Located in Rising Sun MD, 21911. Asking 4400 obo.
Best form of contact would be email at marstej@gbc.edu. Phone also works at 443-206-1256.
