Hi guys. Let me give you guys a little back story. I bought this car on Craigslist in December, it was a decent deal and i wanted a project. The owner had pretty much taken amazing care of the car, but could no longer take care of the car sold it to gentleman as a turnkey. This guy was a bit shady, but i bought it from him anyway. Long story short there was a lot of small issues that had not been disclosed (engine was strong, suspension great). I got to many of them, a battery drain, some lights not working, bad window switches, lose ground wires. But not all of them. But in May as i was driving this beautiful machine down Sir Francis Drake ( rural highway) when a deer crossed my path and I had to slam on the brakes and come to a dead stop. a felt something shift an the belts ( thankfully not timing belt ) snap. The bolts on engine mount frame had snapped and the engine/transmission shifted forward a few inches. The oil pan had also come down against the rack and cracked. The car was not driven in this condition, it was towed to the mechanic.
The repairs were quoted at around 1500$ mostly labor. quotes were giving by Bill Arnold BMW and Fairfax Garage.
Hi guys, after exploring my options I have unfortunately come to the conclusion that it does not make sense to fix my E30. I recently moved an no longer have access to a garage, So a cabrio does not make sense, nor do I have anywhere to work on it. I also don't have the time anymore.
The car does have a cracked windshield and the rear window broke the second time i put the top down (canvas is in decent condition).
The car has 172-73k miles on it, odo broke last year before it was under my ownership, but i have receipts from the PO. I put less then 1k miles on it, she was not my DD. She will need to be towed.
I have had several CL buyers flake on coming to see the car, so I want to put it up here before I call my local BMW salvage yard.
I would rate the interior 7.5/10 crack free dash, upholstery on seats good, carpet a bit stained though.
She is a 5-speed and has a decently straight body, and a strong engine so she is a great parts car or project. I just can't justify it between the repair costs an not having a garage. I bought her as a project and she still one.
SOLD!
