    Ireland engineering BBK questions

Hey all, I'm going to do a brake upgrade soon and I have a few questions.

    1) I've been looking at these two kits (http://www.massivebrakes.com/brake-s...front_332x32mm) and (http://www.massivebrakes.com/brake-s..._rear_300x32mm) but I have some questions. First is would I need a brake bias proportioning valve to get these working properly? I would hate to end up with more rear bias than I should have, due to the large increase in rear brake size, being only 32mm smaller than the front. Second question, I don't suppose anyone knows what wheels would fit these brakes?

    2) another option I have is the Ireland kits (http://www.iemotorsport.com/bmw/E30-...30bbk310w.html) and (http://www.iemotorsport.com/bmw/E30-...30bbkrear.html) but I have the same question with these. Supposedly the front and rear brakes are the same size? That just seems like it would screw up the brake bias!

Basically just looking to get feedback from anyone with experience regarding these two kits, or just thoughts in general. If there is anything else out there that I should consider please let me know. Thanks!

I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but you might want to contact Lee at Massive directly. He's always been very helpful when I've had questions about his products. His stuff is top notch too.

I believe he's active on r3v sometimes. If not, his email is right on his web page

and I'm Andrew at IE, very familiar with the other kits (since play a support role for dozens of guys running the kits).

Both kits are well balanced, you can get the actual bias from both IE and Massive if you simply email either/both. Rotor size is only one factor in balancing, you've also got pad area and pistons sizes as well. One kit is not "better" than the other as they were designed with slightly different initiatives.

Both kits are well put together. With the 330x32 massive kits Lee has really designed the kit for all out braking power (with the sacrifice being higher unsprung weight and less wheel clearance). With the IE 310x20 kits, they were designed to increase braking while still accommodating more wheel selection and less unsprung weight (with the sacrifice being not as much braking power as Lee's kit).

To emphasize, your best bet if you're looking for technical information is to email both companies.

There are templates for each brake kit on Lee's website. It's usually just below the price on each product page. Print them out, sit them in your wheel, will tell you if they fit or not.

Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
