    FS (SoCal): 1988 325is - 5spd - 185K miles

    Hi All,

Up for sale is my 1988 325is. Every car has a story, so here's mine.
I originally bought it as an auto-x/canyon-carving/semi-DD car. However; life happens. I'm in grad-school and working full time and do not have time for two toy/hobby cars (the other is an S2000). I also got a new job and am making a career transition.

Additionally, my current residence doesn't have enough room for me to park both of my cars (and truck). I've been storing my e30 (or s2000 - depending on what i'm driving for the week or two) at my parent's place in one of their empty garage spots - that spot was recently taken over by a toy car that my brother bought. LOL!!!

Anyway, on to the car. No expenses were spared in getting the car auto-x ready. A lot of work was done at Star Foreign Auto in Chino CA (it's the shop QUKBMER works at).

Here's a short list of everything that has been done.

    Key Misc Items:
-AC r134a conversion. All 4 fan speed switches work. Yes, an E30 with modern refrigerant that works.
-Working Odometer!!! Tach, Speedo, and all other gauges/lights in instrument cluster
    -3M tint 35% all around
    -Clutch Slave cylinder
    -TPS (throttle positioning sensor)
    -ICV (idle control valve)
-Water pump and timing belt (at 181K)
    -Replaced Cat and O2 sensor
    -Fuel lines
    -power steering lines

    Drive Train
-UUC DSSR with z3 Shift Lever (all associated parts for shifter refreshed - bushings, circlips, etc. etc.)
    -Guide Bushing on drive shaft
    -Guibo on drive shaft
    -Input shaft seal
-Parts for Center Support Bearing Purchased (did not refresh - it was still in good condition, no cracks and not dry)
    -Passenger rear axle
-Driver side rear wheel bearing and hub
    -Transmission mounts (rubber)
    -HD Motor mounts (Bimmer World)

    Suspension/brakes/tires
    -New tires - RE-11a 205/50/r15 on 15x7 Style 10 wheels (~4000 miles)
-New rotors with DTC60 front/HT10 rear. ATE Type200 fluid (think super blue but gold)
-Brand new Bilstein Sports with H&R race (purchased from Turner)
    -New Front Shock Mounts (center)
-Powerflex Front Control Arm Bushings (Off-set)
    -New Tie-Rods
    -New Control Arms
-Rear Shock Mounts with Re-enforcement plates
-New Rear sway bar bushings and end-links (stock bar retained)
-I.E. 22mm Front Sway Bar with mounting kit and adjustable endlinks

There are a number of items i purchased because I wanted to do everything right, I just never got around to it.
    -Rear trailing arm bushings purchased
    -Sway bar re-enforcement plates (F/R)
    -Door jamb re-enforcement plates

There are a number of other things that i'm sure are slipping my mind. The car is a California car with original paint. I'd place the overall appearance of the car at a 7.5/10 compared to the vast majority of E30s I've seen for sale. It's not perfect by any means (it's a 27 year old car).
It is an original '88 325is,
    LSD,
    5spd original (carfax verified),
    CLEAN title (also carfax verified),
    map lights on mirrors,
    pre-wired for central locking,
    sport seats,
    OEM style 10 wheels,
    13-button OBC,
    after-market radio,
    clean crack-FREE dash,
plastic bumper swap ('88s came with diving boards, but had the proper rear arch/valence to fit plastic bumpers).

And finally, in an effort for full disclosure, the BAD:
-Heater doesn't work (I don't need it in SoCal - I only use the AC)
-Rear bumper has a crack on it. Plastic trim on the bumpers could use some paint (or vinyl wrapping)
-13 Button OBC fell off of mounting plate
-Two keys for car (driver door and ignition are different). Driver door will unlock, but cannot be locked with key. (I actually bought a full set of locks and keys, and after having that installed, the driver door was also broken...)
-Driver's Sport Seat is Vinyl. Passenger Seat is leather, as is the rear.
    -That's about it.

The car is 100% mechanically operational with AC and turn key ready to be used as a daily driver. Finally, on to the pictures.

The car that stole my E30's parking spot (the yellow one on the left. red one is mine).

    Exterior

    Start up

    That's about it.
    Summary:
    Car: 1988 325is 5spd 185K miles
    Exterior Condition: 7.5/10
Wheels: 4.5/10. Straight/true and holds air. Previous owner plastidipped them. Curb rash is present, and there's some caked on brake dust. I will try to update with more pictures in the coming days.
Mechanical Condition: 9.5/10 (only because nothing is ever perfect)
Key Features/Pluses: working r134a AC, 3M tint, true "is", original 5spd, low miles on tires, all maintenance items addressed, original paint
Title: In hand and CLEAN (carfax verified - first two pages in post below)

    Asking Price: $7000
Contact: PM or text (nine-5-1 seven-three-three 1-3-eight-zero) or email (albertcmcastro AT gmail dot com). I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible.

I feel the asking price is fair based on current market value and trends. I'm definitely going to take a loss on the car, but as it stands, I'm just way too busy to have two toy cars. My job and grad-school take up the majority of my free time, and what free time I do have to tinker with cars, preferentially goes to my S2000. I also no longer have a dedicated garage spot for the e30. My parents are fine with me storing on their driveway, which is fairly large, but it's a waste. I don't want the car to get beat up by the sun/elements.

The car is adult owned. No Mickey Mouse half-ass short cut repairs. I'm a firm believer in doing things once the right way - even if it's more expensive initially it usually ends up being more cost efficient in the end (this applies to both modifications and maintenance). Only quality work and quality parts. As stated, the majority of the work done was at Star Tech. My family has been going there to have their cars serviced since the late 80's.

    Some previous car history include:
    1999 GMC Sierra (current)
    1986 Porsche 951 (sold)
    2009 Subaru STI (sold)
    2006 S2000 (current)

Please no tire kickers, test drivers, or low ballers. Serious buyers only. My time is limited and valuable. I've taken my time to be as detailed and forth coming as possible with the car so as not to waste your time either. The car is currently not listed on craigslist.

I can vouch for Albert with him selling this car, he is a legit seller and good friend of mine. I have known his family now for probably about 20 years.
Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
