    M20 2.7L Engine

Not sure how often these come up on here, but I have a 1987 325is engine that was stroked to a 2.7L a couple years ago. It is a GREAT running engine! It whips you in the back of the head in 1st and 2nd gear. Highway pulls are good, as well. Lots of torque:devil:

    Info on the engine:
    M20 2.7L.
280k miles (not sure if this is accurate or not - I think it may be WAY less. Car was originally Canadian so it has the euro odometer, and it says 415k km on it. I don't believe the engine has this many, as it was pulled from Seattle.)
    Idles at about 6-700 RPM.
    NEVER track raced.
Supposedly around 190-200 horsepower according to previous owner.
Safe to say the bottom end is an eta, and the top portion is out of an iS. Which would explain high, incorrect mileage and wear on the engine.

Overall, the engine runs great. I have had zero issues with it. The only thing that is wrong is the vaccum leak. Nothing else is wrong, as I take an autoshop class and get to work and maintain the motor everyday.

Now, I have never sold an engine or anything, and I don't see strokers come up too much, so although I would have someone shoot an offer, I'll put a price up as $800 for everything? Does this seem reasonable? That includes the ECU, engine, wiring and 5-speed transmission (clutch, too). If not, let me know and I will adjust it. Again, not too experienced here haha. Shoot me a PM! Shipping available upon request.

mileage wise, part of the stroker could be from the original engine, as I believe your car is an 1986 eta or super eta?

Have you found an M30 or whatever you are going to put in it?

Just a tip for selling yours, leave it in your car so potential buyers can run it and hear it.

Still in my car, don't worry. Keeping it there until a buyer comes forward - I'm using the money to buy the M30B35.

Yes, it is originally a 1986 325es. It's kind of a mystery engine in some ways. Any way to tell if the rest of it is from the swap, or the original engine?

Just the bottom end of an the original eta block woulda been used. Then the top end/wiring/ecu of an unknown i engine.

So it would be safe to say the bottom end is an eta but the top is an iS. That would explain why the mileage shows as that. Thank you!

Story doesn't check out. You may want to check the casting marks on the head to confirm it is an i head (I believe you're looking for code "883" on the head). You'd be wise to source the bottom end by running the VIN number located on the block; if it is indeed an stock for stock b27 bottom end, it would actually have LESS horsepower than a stock b25 due to the drop in compression.

You're looking for 883 on the head and the vin to pull back as coming from a 1988 325; no i or e (Super-ETA)

Not saying you don't have what you claim you do, but cold hard facts (and pictures) would go a long way in helping you find a buyer (like me)

I'm more or less looking to sell the entire swap - not just the motor. I need to have enough to afford the M30 that I am looking at, and it's harder to sell seperate pieces. Will think about it, though
