318is slow progress project..

hey guys picked up my 4th e30... Can never leave this game. And i don't want to!








This is a project journal for myself mostly. Thought I would share with you if you guys are interested. Wanted to keep a journal to look back at in the future.


i bought this thing about 2 months ago, 252000 miles and best part yet is i just checked the oil for the first time a few days ago.. and it was halfway full :)











Ive done like only a couple things to it which was



: fix sunroof(new cables)



: pull of shadow line trim and bumper trim..

Well I work in a body shop.. So paint is going to be fairly good price for me and I'll do all the body work-_- it's gunna take a long time-_-
But I already started pulling trim off slowly

I the first thing I wanted to do was fix the bumper trim make it euro trim and didn't want todo end $200 on new ones. So I came up with a solution.
Took a bad damaged bumper we had laying around. Cut a piece out. Grounded the trim from the e30 and the bumper. Used a special glue that we use to fix bumpers(panel bond), and glued them together as well as filled in the whole. It should already be dry(takes 12 hours) so I'll sand if flush today:)

What did you use to bond the backing to the trim? Looks like a fun project

Panel bond. It's a very strong bonding adhesive. I'm going to grind the backing off and just leave the glue in place and it will stay in place. Because I don't think the trim will fit on the bumper with the backing.

Decided I'm going to rattle can clear it so the pdr guy at the shop can pop the dents so it saves me in the amount of mud I have to do.. But without the clear it looks pretty dent free.. And then I put clear on it. And I have some work cut it for me-_-

are you just can clearing to find the dents?

Yes. I'm gunna strip most of the paint after to do body work on bigger dents, etc..

Crappy clear job but the pdr tech said its good enough for him to pop those dents out. :)

haven't posted in a while been trying to save some money so kinda stopped with the e30. I have an m2 on order, so that is taking a lot of money and little to spare for the e30.

last weekend i ran over a median and cracked the lower part of my oil pan. and bent all 4 wheels... it was painful. Anyways i took the oil pan off and put some jb weld on it to keep it good until i swap it.

Waiting for the lower gasket to install it. I also bought 4 new wheels basketweaves again, and new tires. I figured hey I'm doing that lets take care of my suspension issues. So today i went to the store and ordered new control arms, inner and outer tie rod ends, sway bar end links x4, brakes, and rotors. they should arrive on friday, can't wait to get them installed. It handles so bad right now everything is so wrong out.
