    Exhaust hangers question

The rubber hangers that hold up the rear end of my exhaust squeek really bad when the exhaust viberates. I have two theories as to why this is:

This is because one of the rear muffler hanger mounts broke off, so the exhaust is only hanging on two rubber hangers, causing the exhaust to shake.

I have one of each holding my exhaust up:

OR this might be because the rubber hangers have almost 200k on them, causing them to squeek.

What do you think? I'd rather not order new rubber hangers if I don't have to.

You don't wanna order a new rubber thing that costs 2 bucks?

Also, its readily available at the dealer at that price. Bought mine and got it on the spot.

My rubber hangers will be disposed of with extreme hostility very soon, and replaced with real exhaust hangers, like the ones Jordan has on his car. Aside from those stupid rubber donuts being one of THE most pain in the ass things to remove/reinstall, they do squeak like crazy, mine squeak like a motherfucker every time I hit a bump.

Good question. I don't know what I was thinking when I made this thread ...but I was thinking something.

Sidenote / FYI: Ive come to the conclusion that that the hangers squeak only when they're cold. As the exhaust heats 'em up, they stop squeaking.

Josh: What are you replacing yours with?

Ya, I don't think Jordan's are new either. Don't forget, this is the guy who pulled his exhasut and pinted the entire thing. I respect people like that because they are just like me; anal when it comes to their cars. :)

Ok, I'm bringing this thread back from the dead.

Is there something safe I can lube the hangers with so they don't squeak.? I've got all new exhaust and hardware parts, yet it squeaks like crazy!

Hmm, anyone know if grease will work?

If you're going to use grease, use silicon grease, it won't deteriorate rubber. Go to napa and buy 'Sil-Glide". Its pretty much amazing. Also put it on inside of coolant hoses (prevents freezing later on and helps hoses slide on like a champion. And no the hoses won't ever fall off).
