    Peake 1A Control Unit Supply?

I read the code finally, luckily there was only one :)

The scanner came up with FF, I looked up the code as a 95 m3 and a 95 325is both came up with "Control Unit Supply" Only question is, what the hell does that mean??

    possibly 12v to the dme?

use a multimeter to assure you're getting a full 12v to pins 6&7 on the c101 plug.

    if you're not-

i dont know whats up. trace the wire or something.

thats probably not the answer, but 5 minutes might fix your car.

I called peake just for fun to see what they would say. They told me "we dont auctually know what the codes mean" which made me feel real good. However I did get ahold of one guy there that said he has heard of that from having a low battery.

The one I put in I just took out of my explorer and had it laying around the garge for about a month. Its probably not very good I just hooked it up to start my car and get it to storage. Also, the alternator bushings may be low, not getting a full charge. I will check all these out.

Just a FYI if anyone is wondering.

run the car at idle with all accessories off, does it still stumble? turn on all accessories and see if it does the same thing. i had an alternator go out on my e30m50 (only maintenance issue in 2 years) and the car would run just fine off the battery. after about 30 minutes the lights went dim, abs light went on, and car would stumble if the blower was turned on high. after 45 minutes, the car would run only with the lights off.

        cheers, jason

          Reset it and reread it.

"Control Unit Supply" means that at some time the DME was without power, i.e. you unhooked the battery. If you havent reset it since you unhooked the battery it will continue to read 1A.

If you reset and never unhook the battery and it still comes back up then you need to make sure that your wiring is fine, however it should be since the power is that big friggin red wire next to the power block.

With car off battery should read 12.4-12.6 and up in the 14v area with car running.

Ah thanks for the tip I will try that.

I have run cars with busted alternators a lot, and I know what happens, this does not seem like it. I snapped the alternator belt on my m20 once and ran the brushes into nothing, just what you said, all the lights get dim etc... it is not doing that on the m3.

I will reset and recheck and see what happens thanks

Well supposedly i am using a bad DME and i had gotten this the other day when finally running my engine in the car. I thought that it possibly being bad had something to do with it. If low battery charge was the cause or anything to do with the power to the DME that means my DME is probably good.Saves me money , Thanks guys. I got three 413 DME's for free because the guy believed they were bad.

are any red? Id take one off your hands if they are operational.

It would be nice to run without the chip for the winter.

I reset it, has not come back in in the 45 seconds I drove the car. Since I have no title or insurence I didnt want to take it on a road. Seems to be ok though

I preferably need a non EWS ecu if anyone has. I do plan on getting a chip, but i would like to run the motor on stock form, also would like to see the gains of a new chip.
