which swap is better S50 or S52?

this could probaly have just been a post on the how do u like your s50/s52 swap thread but i thought id make a new one/

im just wondering of those on this board who've done S5X swaps. overall which engine do you prefer?

the s52 needs the obd1 conversion but delivers a bit more power, also its production run was longer and it is newer so low milage ones can be had, albeit it is also more expensive.

the s50 doesnt need the expensive obd1 conversion and has more high end power but its production run was only one year and low milage examples are hard to find.

(all that info is from this site i take no credit for having known any of that)

in the opinions of those who have done the swap which engine is superior?

ive heard that the S50 is easier simply because its the obd1. and people i know that went with the S52 would go S50 if they had the chance to.
Now i have no idea about which ones better because i havent owned either

I know of one person who would do the whole S52 thing instead of the S50 if he had the chance.

Of course, its a matter of more time and money.

S50 and put the extra money you save toward some used SS headers and cams

Whichever engine deal is better for the price. If you find a nice S50 and a killer price, I say go that route. Same w/S52. Either way, S52 will make more power, but in the higher speeds w/the same mods they're practically identical.

my s50 pulls pretty damn hard in my car...I'd do it the same way again with cams if I really wanted more power. For me, s50 is easier for sure. OBDI s52's are nice setups though!

I have a s52 in a 91 convertible and its whole lot of fun power to weight ratio is great

^ you really bumped a thread from 2006?

funny though how back then apparently S52 swaps weren't very common compared to S50
