    Generic m50 swap

Yea, once again some douche bag is swapping his m20 for an m50. That douche bag is me.

Clay has been assigned to be my sidekick but pretty much just making him do all the bitch work. I give him cookies every now and then and is makes him work harder.

I thought it would be interesting for some people to observe the progress of my swap, so for those who enjoy these types of things, here you go.

I started last night removing m20 paraphernalia, today Clay came over and we started gettin' serious with it.

here it is before I touched anything.

Clay setting up for wiring duties.

motor on it's way out. danny making a retarded face.

    the motor basically out.

    me actin' a fool.

I'll update this shiz with more pics tomorrow night.

get a load leveler before you try to put the new engine back in dude, itll be a huge bitch tryin to drop it in if you just hook the hoist to the front bracket like what u did to take it out. a load leveler will make your life so much easier.

i second that on the load leveler, i used one to take out the engine but didn't have access to one while putting the engine back in. I can tell you that it sucked hardcore but i at least had the back of the block and the front tied together

I have one, it just seemed easier to just lift it from the front and use a floor jack to raise the tranny out.

Remember me and clay are both popping our motor swap cherries so were gonna do things unconventionally. But hopefully not fuck anything up.

Also, where do I attach the load leveler in the back of the m50?

So I'll be over this afternoon sometime (Sunday) to button up the harness splices and help pressure washy washy. I think I have a load leveler we can use. Pics ftw.

p.s... we need pics of Eduardo! :P

lol - that was the first thing I noticed in the pics. "Is he picking that up from a single chain?!?" I'm not so sure that single point can properly take the full load. Well, good job so far!

To the left of the starter, there is a loop that is part of the engine. Almost exactly where it is on the M20.

UPDATE: Clay and I went to the store to get some cleaning supplies and some tools. We then proceeded to remove to tranny from the m20, clean it, and put it to the side for now.

We also attacked the engine bay with engine foamer and brake cleaner. Looks freakin clean for the most part.

Tomorrow I'll be getting the flywheel machined and get the m50 on the engine hoist to put the new clutch on.

320 booster is installed and ready to go. Wiring harness is basically done. Hopfully we can get the motor in and running by the end of this week.

                          PICS>

tranny out and cleaned up a bit

                          and a clean ass bay

                          More updates tomorrow.
