Alright. So seeing i have yet to find a DIY on a Hardwire to install a after market deck into a stock wiring, without a adapter, i am going to make one.
When buying my bimmer, there was no cd deck, no wiring harness, nothing. So, in order to put a cd player in without spending fifty bucks for some geek to geek it in, i am going to show you some genuine southern engineering.
First, pull all the wires from your adapter. what you want to do is get about 4 inches of electrical tape, bundle it up, and stuff that that garbage in the back of the center console. Because, were going to bypass all of that.
On your headunit, you will have a adapter where you would splice it into your harness. you should have front and back left speakers (4 wires, 2 positive, two negative), and front and back right speakers, (4 wires, 2 positive, two negative), Ground, ignition, and Power source.
What you would want to do is get to all your speaker wires. IE- disconnect the factory wiring, and thread your own. From the rear speakers, your best bet is to run them down the back of the backseat in the trunk, below the back seat, through the center console, under the carpet. makes it alot easier. have about 1 1/2 feet of extra wire to pull UP through the center console, and hang out where the head unit will be shortly. REMEMBER to mark which side is + and - on your speakers. tape them or something. you need it later.
AMP USERS- If your planning on running an amp, run your wires with the speaker wires. makes it alot easier.
For the front speakers, do the same. pull the carpet up a bit, use a coat hanger, and run it under the carpet, to behind the center console, and up through. REMEMBER to add some extra wiring.
Now the annoying part. You need to find the gauges of your wiring for the ground, ignition, an power. Mine happened to be 16 for power, 10 for ground and ignition. You want to get more wiring from a hardware store, same gauges and color. makes it easier.
Find your wire from your ignition, from a power source, and find the spot you want to ground it to. To ground my head unit, i am going to run about two feet of wiring, and run it BACK down my center console, through the center piece, and bolt it down behind the front seats. Why? Just so i don't accidentally ground it to something that it shouldn't be grounded to (like grounding it to my head unit).
To get your ignition wiring, i pulled off the collum, and found my ignition wiring, and spliced into it a bit down the collum. for the power source, i found a constant 12V+ wire, and spliced into it.
Almost done.
Now with your speaker wires marked, wire them into your adapter wires, your positives go to positives, negs to negs, lefts to lefts, rights to rights. then hook up your power source, ground, and ignition, if your running an amp, subs, whatever else, now is your time to wire it in.
Once your spliced up, taped up, whatever you did to rig it together, your time to connect, and put in. once all your wiring is done, i wrapped mine up with electrical tape, so if i pulled it out to install something else, i wouldn't mistake a wire from my head unit for something else. put it in, set it up, turn it on, crank it up.
