Late diving board ('88) body options

Up front: This is pie-in-the-sky thinking in advance, I can't afford a body kit right now but I like to plan ahead. I have an '88 so I have late panels and parts for the most part, and while I know it's quite popular to swap to plastic bumpers I actually like my boards because 1. they work and have saved me a bunch of money from a parking lot bump without any damage, and 2. I grew up around cars that had them so they're nostalgic and charming to me. Dated and funky, sure, but I have a soft spot for them. So the problem is this: Kits that fit diving boards, e.g. for '86, '87 cars likely won't fit the late '88 panels, but kits designed for late panels '88 to end of production won't fit the boards. I know cabrios/verts had boards longer and some late changes if I'm not mistaken, but I'm also under the impression that convertible and cabrio body kits aren't necessarily compatible. I also know early rear fenders have a higher arch than late ones, so I'm unsure how I'd adapt a flare there.

Does anybody have input on what sort of shaping, cutting, etc would be required? Has anybody attempted this or similar? I'll probably get replicas if I end up being able to financially justify doing some cosmetics but I'd still rather not butcher anything more than necessary. My pie-in-the-sky frankenkit idea is the late ACS front valance combined with the Zender early flares and skirts, and maybe their early spoiler. Not sure what I'd go with for rear valance.

Here's some photos of bits I was speaking of, click the thumbs to see the full rezzes.

Zender skirts and spoiler:
{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/i.postimg.cc\/hf6yw10k\/image.png"} (https://postimg.cc/hf6yw10k)
{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/i.postimg.cc\/8F9zf3d3\/image.png"} (https://postimg.cc/8F9zf3d3)

Zender spoiler, but I think those skirts are Pfeba (I'm also down with those):

ACS:

Rock chip repair

Hi all. I have a bunch of rock chipping, some down to bare metal, and there's a bit of surface rust. I have rust converter and one of those fiberglass surface prep pens and color-matched paint and microbrushes and masking tape and such. I daily my car and I'm not going for anything concours perfect, but I want it to look a little better for the E30 picnic and arrest further corrosion. Aside from the converter and pen and such, as well as making sure things are clean as I can get them beforehand, any advice or tips or should I just do the best I can? Is there a primer good for this application that won't require a nightmare of masking or overspray, something I can blot on maybe?

I also got my lip back on since I took these, but yeah. All the local body shops kinda waffled around or insisted I'd need a much bigger repaint. I know that'd be a more long term solution, thing is as much as I'd love a full glass-out paint job I just don't have that kind of money for cosmetics anytime soon, but I DO want to stop that rust before it worsens.

Open to advice.
